There’s whole seasons from 88-90 and 03-07 with no real significance. I’ll go for a 3-3 v Hereford from maybe ‘89. The least entertaining 6 goal ‘thriller’ you’ll ever see.

Beating Spurs 3-2 at WHL.. 73/4 season.. Hitched down from Rawtenstall overnight with Coady for company..

Arrived late, never saw a goal, and had to leg it out the ground before full time to avoid a kicking.
Blagged onto the Central Motors coach for a free ride home though.
Bet that was fun? It wouldn't have been a quiet journey with MC with you.

December 13th 1997, Burnley 0 Wigan 2. Miserable and fed up with Waddle, sacked it off at half time and walked home.

I have a vague recollection of a match in the mid 80’s, away at Cambridge, it was foggy, we lost and I think Grewcock was sent off?

Wrexham 1-0 99/00. My first Burnley away game and Payton scored the winner. Think it was his 200th career goal.
Most certainly wasn't a game of no real significance, given we finish second that season and had to win on the final day to seal it.

I remember Ally Pickering doing that but not Dean West
He started the next game and Ternant subbed him after 5 minutes

Burnley 0-2 QPR in about 2007. Think it was a night match. Kiraly came up for a corner in injury time with the score 0-1 and QPR scored from it.

Burnley 1 Wolves 0- 2005ish

Gareth O Conner scored a free kick and Beast had a worldie to get us the points. Just one of those games that have always stuck with me for some reason.

I remember beating Altrincham in the FA Cup in the early 80s something like 6-0 at the Turf. They were the big non-league cup team at the time and I seem to remember some derogatory comments aimed our way from their manager when they’d drawn us so the huge win was especially satisfying.

Cambridge away. I think Cook scored in the first couple of minutes and that's the last thing I remember. Apart from having a bacon sandwich at half time, which was odd.
Remember it well. I live in Cambridge and lived near Andy Duncan, he broke his leg in this match I think in a aerial challenge with Mitchell Thomas.
Nobody’s fault, but he was sent a fruit basket and flowers and wine by mitch. Touch of class from him. Think your right Cook first minute. Would have been October 1999 I believe, near my dads birthday,

Burnley vs Watford Aug 2011. We had battered them the season before so was looking forward to a good few goals. Remember giving a ex-Rovers player heavy stick during the game ( can’t remember his name), but he ended up being MoM. Game ended in a draw with late equaliser for Treacey. After the match a gruff voiced Watford manager was chatting about how the game panned out and that they should have won. I’m thinking “Who is this 2hat, spouting off like that”.

Who would have known what was about to happen the season after!

Burnley 2-1 Leeds United, November 2006, Steve Jones finest game in a Claret and Blue shirt. Unplayable that day.

Andy Gray and Gifton Noel-Williams with the goals. David Healy with a late consolation.

Mine would be a 1-0 home victory to (I think) Southend - I believe Payton scored, that sticks in my mind as it's the first game I recall attending with any clarity.

Another would be a 2-0 (I think) defeat at Bramall Lane, I remember Carl Asaba scoring - first away game I remember.

Think I was at the Sheffield United game. Did the Burnley fans bring a load of baloons to throw when the players came out?

It rings a bell, I went on a Junior Clarets supporters coach with a bunch of other kids. Was a dire performance by us if I recall correctly.

A 1-0 defeat at The Ricoh under Laws in 2010 ,the season following our relegation under Coyle/Laws. A dismal display and the game when I realised just how immobile Chris Iwelumo was .......we might has well have planted a tree midway into the Coventry half. For some reason I'm still irritated by this loss to a woeful Coventry team.

What a grim day that was. Coventry tried to gift us the win by having a completely pointless sending off, so instead of capitalising we had one of our brainless berks dismissed 5 minutes later.
Iwelumo was dreadful.

Speaking of Jones i also remember his home debut against Crewe where he scored two (if my memory is accurate). I'm sure one of them was quite a good goal too. I remember looking at my dad and thinking omg we could have a real player here.

I've never been more wrong in my life.

Norwich away under Cotterill when we won 4-1.
I had a massive hangover and watched it on skysports, we were superb, Cotterill did his patronising arm over the shoulder routine to Nigel Worthington, and dandeclaret spent the rest of the season ranting about Steve Jones getting man of the match on the clarets mad player rating thread when Andy Gray had just turned in the best centre forward display since Methuselah was a lad.

He had a great start to the season, but lost his way after injury. Think we lost him and Andy Gray at a similar time and we dropped from top 6 to near relegation with the 19 game winless run. A bizarre season.

Everton at home in Div 1 circa 1974. Losing 0-1 at half time and struggling. The Longside totally blue and white and Clarets fans banished to the Bee Hole and obliged to keep very quiet and under the radar. Well into the second and out of nowhere Burnley score 3 times in exactly 3 minutes. Q bizarre scenes as the Longside suddenly totally empties a la the proverbial fire drill in the space of approximately a minute and a half to be immediately filled with jubilant Clarets fans appearing from apparently nowhere! Brilliant stuff!!

2-1 win against Bolton at Burnden on Jan 2, 1978 - injuries meant we had to play full-back Ian Brennan up front and he ended up scoring both goals. First away game I ever attended and it was a cracker.

Orient at home towards the end of the 86/87 season. Burnley won 2-0 with goals from Neil Grewcock and Phil Malley and if I remember correctly we scuppered Orients chance of promotion by beating them that day
Am I guilty of taking an obvious bait by pointing out that the scorer of the second was Britton rather than Malley?

My contribution is a 0-0 draw at Leeds Road some time in the 70s or early 80s. It was a great match but no goals.

Remember a barmy game at the Turf against Cardiff in about 2008. Ended up 3-3, Darren Purse decided to try and snap Andrew Cole on the half way line and cut him up, you could visibly see his shin bone from the Bob Lord. Cole chased him down the tunnel and an altercation must have taken place. He suspended himself from the FA cup final!

Millwall 1978 at home I got there 10 mins late with a friend who was a Utd fan, Millwall scored 2 in first few minutes which we missed, but what I do remember it was the most boring game I'd ever seen we left with 10 mins to go, he didn't come to anymore games with me.

Leeds 1 Burnley 2 in about 2004. We had at least 4 full backs playing and Robbie Blake as a lone striker. Lee Roche and Richard Duffy scored, almost never heard of again

Good night out in Leeds City centre afterwards

Didn't his red card get overturned by the Welsh FA allowing him to play? Absolute madness.

The last minute 3-2 win at Hull when 2-0 down was a great day out. Edgar with two and Jay with the winner.

Went on a booze bus from Crawshawbooth and then stopped off at The Old Mill at junction 25 off the M62 for a few hours after to celebrate.

Another one just sprang to mind. An awful game at home vs Southampton in the dying embers of Cotterill's tenure, I remember it being mind numbingly, spirit crushingly boring - can't even remember the result.

They did, he didn't end up starting I don't think. Was one of the most reckless moments in my memory, maybe only second to the Akinbiyi v George McCartney moment.

Midweek night match at Doncaster.
Awful game.. awful weather.. awful.

Seem to remember Burnley fans cheering Andre Bikey when he was warming up down the sideline. A clearly out of shape Bikey was loving it and clapping and smiling.

We lost 1-0 thanks to a Mike Duff own goal if I remember right.

For ages I was trying to convince my friend to come and watch a Burnley game, he finally did circa 1999/00 and we sat through sideways rain experiencing the dullest 0-0 you’ll ever see. It was against Luton Town.

Thinking back o the 90s there were so many tbh.

One I remember was Tranmere/Notts County with a last minute penalty save from Beresford earning a point. Frantic scenes at the whistle like a cup final win.

Another random one which springs to mind is a 3-2 away win at Tranmere in about 1998. I was checking the score updates on WAP on my mobile from a pub in Covent Garden. It was like the future had arrived.

Weird how you memory plays tricks - turns out we actually lost that game 0-2.

3-3 v Oldham. Was in RAF Northolt listening to Clubcall, 3-0, 3-1, 3-2, 3-3!! Felt like the end of the world.

2-0 win in our first visit to Aldershot. All of 1744 in the crowd on a lovely day in August 1985

I remember that like it was yesterday.....was it March 16 1974?
That sounds about right. Definitely a nice spring day.

Hereford 3: Burnley 0. September 1976. I think Dixie Mc Neil got a hat-trick. We were poor.
My first ever Burnley game. Helped me to manage expectations over the next 46 years!

Absolutely bounced it down that night, could’ve been called off if memory serves me right.

Funny, my random memory is also Luton at home in 2007. Think it was our 19th game without a win. Ended 0-0. One of the most lifelessly boring games I’ve ever witnessed. The most interesting part was watching a plastic bag waft its way across the pitch. Offered more of a threat than our strikers.
