2-0 win in our first visit to Aldershot. All of 1744 in the crowd on a lovely day in August 1985
I went with a City mate who was based at RAF Odiham. Had a great weekend after a rare away win.

0-0 away at Hartlepool on a Tuesday night early in the 90’s on a freezing cold night. Also one of my first memories at an away game drawing 3-3 with Rochdale in first leg of league cup.

Wimbledon 2-2 Burnley.

27th September 2003

Game played in a hockey stadium in Milton Keynes. Kick off delayed as they tried to pack 5,000 people into it. Played in that TFG kit with the striped V-Neck which was too baggy for every player or person on earth. Bizarrely, even though the home kit was sponsored by Lanway, that day we had VK (Vokda Kick) on the kit, who only sponsored the excellent grey away kit.

Robbie Blake got a brace, including a spawny deflected free kick. We then proceeded to throw away a two goal lead to one of the worst teams the Championship has ever seen.

Cheltenham 2-1 Burnley

January 27th 2002, FA Cup 4th Round.

A game where it looked like we were actually trying to get knocked out of the cup. We were doing well in the league at the time, so wouldn't have surprised me if Stan had sacked it off, even though on paper, we picked a first choice team. Michopolous went off injured, Cennamo came on in goal, and immediately let in a free kick my grandma would have saved. 3 goals in a mad 10 minutes, followed by another hour of him flapping and fumbling at everything which came near him.

Listened on the radio, knowing I was going to get a load of $hite the next day at school in Surrey. Not sure why I didn't go, actually.

Stan said "We got what we deserved". "Sometimes it comes down to endeavour, commitment and will to win, and if you don't have those you lose."

Had no real significance really. Not like we were going to win the cup or anything. Although maybe it brought the opposition manager to the board's attention?

YES ! I was going to nominate this game myself. Remember David May playing for us that day (his debut ??) and getting sent off. All a bit surreal. Not sure if you are saying it was v Wimbledon as a protest against FC Franchise but the game was against MK Dons

86/87 Bolton away, Freight Rover trophy (before sherpa) called off at half time due to fog. Got bricks hurled at us by Bolton fans as we got off the supporters bus. I think there were about 16 of us in the away end.

With the sad passing of Clive Middlemass, evoked a memory of a woeful 3-0 stuffing at Hull (Boothferry Park) . A game which I think meets this criteria.

David May was sent off, and it did cost us the game, but it was definitely against Wimbledon, not MK Dons. They played in blue and yellow and everything.

I never realised they used to be called New Brighton. I wonder why they changed it to Brighton & Hove Albion?
Because after a certain amount of time they were no longer new. Obvious really!!

Interesting point as I was (wrongly) thinking shouldn't the new version of Brighton be called New Brighton but you are correct that obviously it is the same team but they are no longer new anymore hence dropping that part of the name

Thanks for helping me out

Logic that clearly did not resonate with the good folks of the Wirral

Happy to be of assistance, just needed the simple application of logic!

Yep. It was mind numbingly cold on a day we never looked remotely like getting anything as Preki pulled all the strings
