Strange isn't it.. obviously I want us to win every week and get promoted back to where we were. But when we were in the Prem towards the end I was pretty bored of it all and skipped the odd game to go and watch non-league instead.
Now we're back in the the 2nd tier, I can't wait to get on the Turf and was gutted to be on holiday for the Huddersfield game.

Re: Luton tickets selling well
It's not that strange, really - the football being served up, over the last 18 months or so was, for the most part, dreadful. Lack of investment, increasingly staid and regressive tactics, teams getting our number and us not even giving them a proper game. A refresh is clearly going to have an effect. The problem wasn't the PL - it was our inability or unwillingness to develop and invest as it went along.

No idea what sort of “on the day/walk on” sales we get, but let’s hope the majority of those go in the run up to the game this week or the club do a deal with local schools/charities to make it a full house.

My missus dad is in his 70's and hasn't been Turf for a few years now, despite being a life long Claret. Always ask him if he wants to come with us but he's never that fussed. Jumped at the opportunity when I asked him if he wanted to come see us play Luton though!

Least you may be able to watch it . We would like to remind supporters based overseas that Saturday's first away match of the season at Burnley has been selected as the live international broadcast for the Sky Bet Championship. ( from Lutons twitter page )

I'm not sure it's logical to be dishing out freebies 4 days before the opening match, with a possible sell-out on the cards.

You do know the difference between a sell out and a full house, don't you.

This all very exciting. Around 750 left now. Crazy that there are ilikely to be more Burnley fans in the ground on Saturday than we had for any home game last year. Unlike the Geordies, Mancs, Scousers etc. can’t imagine Luton fans are buying vast amounts of tickets in our end!
Re: Luton tickets selling well
That is very good.
Why not the Longside Upper? Come on you Clarets. Let's sell out Turf Moor.
Re: Luton tickets selling well
221 now in Longside Upper, so 40 shifted since last evening. Good rate. Wonder if we can get a sell-out? It's only Tuesday!
Re: Luton tickets selling well
Let's hope the performance lives up to the excitement, I have a feeling it will

I am away but have given my ST to a mate who is carer for his dad now so can't get on every week so doesn't have a season ticket at the minute. Surely most ST holders lend them out when they can't make it?

If you go on holiday and don’t give your season ticket to a mate to use then you are a complete tosser. Fact.

My point was more that presumably the club know how many they’re likely to shift in the final days & will hopefully use that info to ensure we get it as packed as possible.

Re: Luton tickets selling well
I’m the same. In the early Prem seasons I couldn’t quite fathom the thinking of those who said they’d become bored - play at the highest level you can for as long as you can etc. The last few seasons were hard though. Turning up week after week and not being confident of a result. The competitive ceiling for smaller clubs gets old after a while.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 3:47 pmStrange isn't it.. obviously I want us to win every week and get promoted back to where we were. Looking forward to it again now.

Count me in the same bracket, haven't been to TM since the Spurs game in March 2020. There was no motivation to go back and watched a few Ramsbottom United games instead.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 3:47 pmStrange isn't it.. obviously I want us to win every week and get promoted back to where we were. On the back of Friday night we have bought tickets for Hull, considering Millwall and planning for a hospitality package vs Bristol City. Hopefully the performance like at Huddersfield continues, trying not to get carried away!

I actually think it's a really big game now on Saturday. There's a really good feeling about the town. When things click into place in Burnley the whole town and local area just gets on a roll. Let's hope we can repeat what we did last Friday and put Luton to the sword. Lift off.

Re: Luton tickets selling well
It's a big game int terms of keeping the feel good factor going after Huddersfield, and it's also Kompany's 1st home game, so although it is only our 2nd game of a long season, 3 pts and even better a convincing win, would set us up nicely for the rest of the campaign.welsbyswife wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 8:20 pmI actually think it's a really big game now on Saturday. Luton are no mugs, so it will be important the crowd stays patient if we don't bag early.
Re: Luton tickets selling well
I think it shows the vast majority of Burnley fans haven't forgotten there's football played outside the PL. We had six years there which was no mean feat and I want us to go back. But we remain humble and know the Championship is a good league. Don't give a damn about the media who disdain it or the gloryhunters following "big clubs".

1,750, is that your estimation or insider knowledge?Top Claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 1:20 pmShould be around 1750 from Luton I doubt that they will sell out
I think if they bring anywhere near to 1,000 they'll have done very well, especially with it being selected as the overseas broadcast game for the EFL.
First three away games last season they took the following support:-
West Brom 1,433(Sat)
Barnsley 748 (Tues)
Blackburn 810 (Sat)

You may be right, first away game and all that, my opinion is not based on fact but Burnley has never been the easiest place to get to for opposition supporters.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 2:58 pmFirst away game of the season and not playing here for 15 years might bring a few more up.

1,200 would be a really top effort, 1,750 would be more than some bigger more local sides will bring this season.

159 in the Longside Upper.
Getting there.
Getting there.
Re: Luton tickets selling well
Popular game for Luton fans it appears. Just been in Maccy D’s in Dunstable (wearing my claret of course) chatting to a fan of theirs and he thought the appeal of playing a relegated team headed by Kompany will mean a few hundred more than normal.

On their site it says they can join an away membership scheme at 40 quid.
They must regularly take 2000 plus for someone to sign up to that.

Absoluted gutted to be missing this after being at Huddersfield on Friday as off on holiday for two weeks on Friday and so miss the Hull game as well!! At least I get back for the Donkey Lashers, and yes I have given my season ticket to someone to use whilst away. I must plan my holidays better next year!!
