A very difficult choice but Ward edges it for me by a hair width ahead of Taylor.

I like Charlie Taylor but had to go for Ward. What a signing he turned out to be.

I think Pieters is very underrated. I'm disappointed he's left and thought there wasn't a massive difference between him & Taylor

Ward's the best left back I've seen play for us, by a distance too. Brilliant player

Has to be Ward for me, don't recall him ever having a bad game for us.

Best since Keith Newton for me

and by the way, I spotted your granddad this week walking away from Deepdale when they filmed Rocky.

Ward by a country mile for me - could get up and down and never had a bad game. Brilliant player for us

Probably go for Ward for his consistency although Pieters was quality too, just in and out the side. He had Mo Salah in his pocket this season at the Turf, great left back display that. Much closer call though this one, wouldn't be surprised whichever of the three (sorry Stephen) won it.

I will stick to Taylor because I originally said that but Ward is a good shout. And happy to be wrong on this one because both have been great players for the club.

Ward, however he had some brilliant players around him Taylor close but not quite defensive enough.

Easy choice. My only surprise was making my choice and seeing my man in the lead!!!

Wardy was a class above for me.

I’d hoped Charlie Taylor would step up and push on maybe even giving GS something to think about, but sadly he hasn’t…. Yet.

I think the next 2 positions will be the biggest no brainer, it will get tougher when we get to the midfield

Ward for me mr reliable, and one of those unsung heroes every team needs to do be successful.

Plus who can forget that stunner at Chelsea in our 3-2 win.

speaking of PL left backs, I might be the only Burnley fan but I actually quite liked Danny Fox.

I like Charlie, I really do. He's a long way ahead of the others in terms of his athleticism.

Can't help feel that he is positionally naive though. There's a nagging thing in my head that seems to think we're more vulnerable with him compared to Ward or Pieters.

Maybe somebody with stats can prove or disprove this?

Either way, Taylor should be the best left back in the Champ next season and we've been spoiled for choice these past 8-9 years.

Charlie is still only 28 and been at the club since 17/18. Ward was in the peak of his career, had 3 seasons in the PL prior to arriving and in my opinion had harder working more effective midfielders in front of him.

At one point we had Arfield, Hendrick, Marney, Westwood, Cork, Gudmundsen and Brady in the squad.

The decline of the squad post 17/18 through injury and lack of investment was quite dramatic.

I factored that in as well - rightly or wrongly.

Taylor has great athleticism and I rate him, but Ward was a very good/natural footballer hence his ability to cover other positions. Pieter's is much more similar to Ward than Taylor in that respect too. Ward hands down for me but Taylor a good second.

I'm swimming against the tide here but think Taylor edges Ward, even if the latter played in more enjoyable era for the club. Either way, I'm glad Chaz is still at the club and Ward was top drawer too.
