If we did it, I would look at using the lower Jimmy Mac stand.
The most unpopular stand at the minute and away from the away fans.
Atmosphere could be from both sides of the ground then

The only real way Burnley would benefit is by being able to offer cheaper tickets to matches, in a conversation with CT some time ago, he suggested standing would unlikely be any cheaper - in that case it comes down to capacity… not really a problem for Burnley at the moment.

That's premium seating though.
The JM lower has the worst views in the ground sat down.
The CF end is sold out to ST holders with everyone standing in there, but we have had a few problems with away fans recently, so it would be a good idea to move any standing option to the furthest away.
Most clubs have their singing end away from away fans.

What happens to those who have already bought a season ticket, for a seat, in whichever area was chosen... I certainly wouldn't want to stand..

There doesn’t appear to be an appetite to introduce it at Burnley but when there was, it was always considered that the cricket field was the best option.

I don't think we would be organised enough to do it this year?
Maybe they could install to the two side blocks on either side of the JM lower, where not so many tickets have been sold?

And you are required to provide a safe standing area for away fans.

I would have suggested that 12 months ago, before we had problems in there and the owners stopped selling matchday tickets.

It’s so much easier for me standing in a safe standing area than a seating area - the rail takes so much pressure of my knees.

No way would I be happy if my seat was just ripped out to accommodate people who want to stand in the JML.

Why can’t we just make the whole CFS safe standing? Nobody sits anyway?

No indication from the club that there is any appetite but I’m still amazed we put new seats in there without considering rails.
I am aware of one Championship club who are using cost as a reason not to do it.

Surely, any proposals for introducing rail seating / safe standing should take place alongside the demolition & rebuilding of the Cricket Field Stand ?
Finance dictates that this is extremely unlikely to take place in the near future.

The cricket field stand would make the most sense as you could make the top half of the whole stand rail seats and keep the bottom half where the blue seats are still seats. Meaning everyone who wants to stand home and away are at the back with people who want to sit in that stand at the front. Capacity isn’t an issue as it is 1 to 1 with the rail seats. Would be good if they did it but I can see them using cost and the issues in that stand with what happened last season as reasons to hide behind.
Jimmy mac or longside lower wouldn’t be ideal from the clubs point of view as people standing would block the view from the lucrative hospitality sections, and they won’t want to decrease the number of hospitality seats incase we do get promoted again and they are needed.
