I know nothing about this lad other than what I’ve read, which sounds very promising. Quite how our defence will fare this season, I don’t know, but at least the centre of midfield has options and hopefully more quality.

This is probably the most important of our signings so far this pre-season.

Lots of people talking about "rebuilding" but unless we get promotion surely our best/better players are always going to be sold ?
Either to survive / finance the debt etc etc our owners aren't rich ones unlike some so all our good players are always "going to be for sale"
How can you rebuild / build your team around your best/better/talented younger players when there always going to be sold ?

Cullen turned down interest from La Liga and Bundesliga according to Andy Jones.

I reckon he will be one of the leagues best midfielders this season and give us a real chance of promotion.

I think this is something we need to accept for a club our size.

Good news. May have to tweak the article now Collins has gone.

Think that’s centre mid sorted now, just need a couple of centre halves and a couple of strikers. 6 in and more to come. Mind boggling.

Clear that he was instrumental in the way Kompany set up at Anderlecht so someone who can slot straight into the system is a big positive.

Normally this would be an exciting signing, adding a decent player to the squad. Now it just feels like papering over the cracks.

I do wish him well however.

Doubt we’ll sign more centre halves. 3 out, 3 in already.

1 striker, 1 keeper and 1 attacking midfielder / winger required.

Buying and selling for a profit is the aim for the majority of clubs though

See Brentford as an example of a club selling for decent money but still managing to get promoted, so it's certainly doable despite your usual pessimistic outlook on Burnley FC.

Looks a cracking signing who has already had championship experience. Charlton fans really rated him and the price looks very reasonable. Is he the Joey Barton figure we have been craving?

Welcome Josh Cullen! Like others, I’ve found promising assessments from fans of his previous clubs. Hope his time here shines as well. Appreciate how he will likely reprise his role under Kompany at Anderlecht, and hopefully the team can better transition to the manager’s new style of play.

I don’t understand the papering over the cracks analogy. We are signing young, hungry players seemingly desperate to play for VK. We’ve lost Tarks, Pope and Collins who all clearly wanted to leave the club and Mee who could have signed a new contract 6 months ago but didn’t. We’ve no idea if he did finally want to stay.

Sounds a good player for the level we are at. Can’t understand any negativity at all. Just a striker and gk needed until Cornet or McNeil go. Really hope we can keep one of them.

Welcome Josh! On paper looks a fantastic signing and really think he can help implement VKs ideas with the rest of the squad, which can’t be underestimated in a game setting. Maybe even looking at the next captain?

His interview on the club website seems to tick a lot of boxes the majority of our fans look for too “I think a big strength of mine is my mentality to give 100% every time I step over the white line, in training and in games. Every time I pull the shirt on, I’ll be giving 100%”

Given that Burnley are a smaller club with no "sugar daddy" to lavish piles of money from questionable sources on expensive players buying young raw(ish) talent, developing it and selling on to "big" clubs at profit...is a positive financial model.
It's something that should have happened with the likes of Hendrick, Tarkowski, Ings and Trippier but they were all allowed to rundown contracts as the Board were unwilling/unable to attract new talent in.
Looking forward to seeing Josh Cullen.

Welcome Josh, get stuck in lad. Very excited by this capture. Hopefully we can pick up a decent young striker too.

I'm not in the "we must get promoted this season" camp, I'd be happy for us to consolidate and have a proper crack at it next year when we have gelled with the tactics, and each other.

As far as athleticism is concerned how does he compare to Jack Cork, particularly the Cork of a few seasons ago at a similar age? All those other qualities you mention sound Cork-like which is promising.

I recall him being at WH but that's about it. But people seem to rate him and the man in charge rates him which is what matters.

Welcome to the club with the proper Claret and Blue, Josh.

Don't know much about him, but obviously VK does, and that's good enough for me.

Midfield looking the best it's looked in years with the captures of Bastien and Cullen.

Now just need a striker as priority, keeper if WH does go, and possibly a winger depending whether Cornet or McNeil also fly the nest.

Jack is about 6 foot, Cullen about 5.8 or 9, so Cork would maybe be better in the air, apart from that I'd say pretty similar

Hard working defensive midfielder, similar ilk as Westwood I’d say

Another apparently good signing……

Appreciate the disappointment of last season but for once, this does all seem positive stuff, a player who has played 22 games sold for a good profit, some exciting prospects brought in…..

Appreciate also its a gamble but now can’t wait for Huddersfield away……
