Best and Worst in the Championship - Week 1
Just thought this would be an interesting idea but if not, we can forget it after week 1.
This is not Burnley, but from any game played over the weekend in our division, although it could be Burnley of course.
Just list any bests and worsts you saw - could be best goal, best save, best performance, worst performance, worst refereeing decision, anything you like as long as it falls into the best or worst category.
I'll kick it off with my choice as the worst refereeing decision - the one by Dean Whitestone to award Hull a penalty against Bristol City.

Hate to say it but the best goal of week 1 was by them lot down the road
Best Performance of the week, hard to tell off highlights but I thought our was probably up there considering the turnaround in possession and the fact 0 shots on goal and we were the only team to register an away win.

Haven't seen highlights of every game but from what I did see: best handbags - Cardiff v Norwich.

I did also note he was too cool to be sporting the club tie.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 10:58 amIn my report, I suggested very Dyche like with suit and shirt but with Stan's trainers.

Special mention for Hull they looked very good.
I think Sunderland will surprise a few this season. They looked very good on the break (Leicester cityesque from there premier league title win).

Re: Best and Worst in the Championship - Week 1
Great idea and really like it:
Best goal: unfortunately Travis for them down the road
Miss of the weekend : Duncan Watmore vs Norwich (nearly as bad as Cornets against Norwich
Best performance : Baffles me that Cullen wasn’t included in TOTW. Completely drove our performance on Friday.
Worst performance team : Sheff Utd - tipped as one to watch this season but personally felt Watford didn’t have to do a lot to keep them at arms length for best part of 90 mins
Worst performance individual : has to be Evans getting sent off for PNE after being on the pitch 8 minutes.

BEST: The goal scored by Viktor Gyökeres for Coventry up in Sunderland. Terrific awareness, feet and finish. Yes please!
WORST: The decision to book Hanley (first yellow) for pushing when it was mistaken identity.

If we could extend it to the whole EFL then Lee Tomlin for Doncaster would win a few categories

I'd not seen it from the camera at the other end before and it looks even worse then. I'm more than comfortable with my choice on worst refereeing decision.aggi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 11:18 amBest dive - Hull's striker

To say nothing of the appalling cheating.
Sometimes it feels like the referees and the cheats are colluding.

Re: Best and Worst in the Championship - Week 1
WEEK 2.
GOAL. Willock for QPR. Carried it, held off a strong challenge, buried it.
Runner up. Ince for Reading.
SAVE. Bialkowski for Millwall. Saved a pen from Norwood.
PLAYER. Ellis Sims, Sunderland. 2 goals on debut. Everton loanee has scored goals for B’pool and Hibs whilst on loan.
NEAR MISS. Chair took a quick FK from near halfway line and landed it on top of net with the keeper struggling to get back.
NIGHTMARE. Lenihan, Boro. Late red card but looks like a red card waiting to happen every time I see him.

I suspect Willock will be up there for player of the season this year. Unbelievable talentTricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 3:31 pmWEEK 2.

Best Brownhills goal, real precision.
Worst, their manager stopping the throwing.

Goal of week 2 didn’t last long. Sarr from his own half for Watford and he drove it home, not some loopy lob.

Still not sure it’s better than Willocks. That’s got to be goal of the seasonTricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 8:20 pmGoal of week 2 didn’t last long. Sarr from his own half for Watford and he drove it home, not some loopy lob.
