So all the ground tickers didn't need to go to the friendly

Full draw at link with reference to our only previous League Cup tie against Shrewsbury in 1966

The ground is 2 miles from the town centre.

I doubt you'll have any problems with tickets

Looking at the numbers at the top, it’s a bit ridiculous that Aston Villa can draw Newcastle but not Walsall :-D
Not to mention Norwich v Bournemouth!

Good draw for us. Should allow VK to rotate the squad quite a bit and still come away with a W.

Might just try and get my Dad along to this one. I was there for the friendly and they seem to have a nice area at the back of the away stand for wheelchairs.

Do they put a bus service on back into town after the game or, is it a walk-job?

In theory yes, but given our dire record in the early rounds of the LC recently I won't be taking anything for granted.

Mind you we did win comprehensively in our recent friendly there.

It's a " walk job " . To get to the ground , get the number 26 from the bus station to meole brace . The last bus for this run , is at 18.10 . There is only 1 taxi company in shrewsbury ( Jamsey : shrewsbury cars and now cars have been bought out by go-carz ) . The number is 01743 441144 - BOOK EARLY.

You can also catch Arriva service 27 from the bus station up to the ground. Ask for Brooklands stop. There is one at 18:15 and one at 18:45 Stand E. costs around £2.60 I think.
Problem is getting back to town after the game as it is approx 30-40 minute walk from the new stadium. I will be walking back after the match as I only live 5 mins from train station.
Sorry to hear you are on holiday for this one expoultry boy.

It’s the one I mentioned next to the parking, RAD Beer. Sadly it doesn’t open on Tuesday nights.
For any clarets who arrive by train, probably those who live in the midlands or who may be stopping over, I can recommend the Salopian bar 3 minutes walk from train station. Great selection of cask beers and lagers. Or there are two Wetherspoons within a minute or two of each other.
Then jump on the bus up to the ground.

If stopping over in Shrewsbury here is another option. Cracking old pub with at least six cask ales on.

Meole Brace has to be a pretend name invented by the locals to get you on a bus out of town.

I remember the night match there in the cup when john bond hid in the stands, from memory we were losing 1-0 but turned it round to win 2-1?

Great night that was with a cracking atmosphere in the away end.

That was at the old gay meadow i think.

I was there also. Didn’t we have a man sent off, Deary? And Roger Eli crossed the ball to Conroy for the winner?
Memory sketchy in my old age but brilliant evening. Bond had a stewards jacket on in the back of the main stand.

By some weird quirk of history that I can't recall, I was sat in that stand.

And you are quite correct, John Bond was sat in there wearing something akin to a steward's jacket. Not at the back though, about a third from the front.

Thats right, I still remember the headline in the Telegraph the next day - Taming of the Shrews

Remember having to get out of school early, my dad couldn’t make it in the end but I got a lift with my maths teacher.
We both had Dentist appointments it turns out…
