Very different players. A lot of Lowts work goes under the radar of fans because its not exciting (in the not particularly memorable sense of the word).GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 8:15 pmI saw an interesting comment on twitter about Lowton.
He's done more for Burnley than Trippier but isn't lauded half as much.

Done more for Burnley in what sense? Trippier was twice the player so being lauded half as much as him seems about fair.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 8:15 pmI saw an interesting comment on twitter about Lowton.

Been a great signing for us has Lowts. I think he’s twice the player Roberts will ever be, but I acknowledge Roberts fits this system better, or one would think.
Good luck to him whatever materialises.

Re: Lowts - no future
No one is pushing him out of the door.
He has a year on his contract and is perfectly entitled to see it out.
VK has just said that he won't get many minutes in the first team.
in the press conference VK spoke favourably about Lowton, but he is 33 and will have to move on at some stage if he wants to play regularly.

Re: Lowts - no future
Trippier spent 3 seasons with us in the championship and one in the PL, which ended in relegation.
Lowton spent one in the championship and then 6 in the PL, so I guess the suggestion is he did more because he was a mainstay of the team whilst in the PL?

Re: Lowts - no future
At this minute, with Costelloe playing high and right and more of a sort of ‘asymmetrical 4-2-3-1’ , the right back is almost playing rcb and not going forward as much…
Personally think Lowton would be much more suited in this role than Roberts - he’s way better defensively (and still pretty decent in possession)
Jury’s still out for me on Roberts

Longer serving granted and I’m certainly not criticising Lowton when I say this, but I know who I’d rather have had for longest time.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 8:24 pmTrippier spent 3 seasons with us in the championship and one in the PL, which ended in relegation.

I’m another who prefers actually prefers Lowton to Roberts who I was expecting much, much more from. It’s early days for him back in the Championship but he has a lot of convincing to do.
Perhaps an opportunity for Egan Riley.

Was he hell as twice the player. Better in some ways but not twice the player at all. Lowton has been a good player in a lesser team than when Trippier played

Is that Tommy Lawton?elwaclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 8:14 pmI think Lawton has been a marmite figure his entire time at Burnley (and I suspect at Villa before). Probably do to the difference in level of his game that makes him a liability out of form, but a top performer when things are going well.
I suspect he is currently out of form, natural given all the change occurring around him. I’d be in no rush to get him out of the door, but I don’t pay his wages.

Maybe BFC could also enter a VETS League, so fully utilising all our resources

Re: Lowts - no future
I don't understand why he wouldn't fit the system. Seemed pretty happy in the recent golf feature video anyway. Also, he's much better than Taylor at Golf so that alone should mean he can stay.
Re: Lowts - no future
Lowton is a typical example of a Dyche signing. Take someone who's had a bit of difficulty at a club but with a great character, and put them into an environment that values their character more than anything else. He isn't as great a footballer as Trippier, not by any means, but his contribution to our success could be argued as higher. It's just such a shame that in the last 2 years of Dyche we stopped recruiting players like Lowton and paid the price for it.

How was Lowton in a lesser team?
Trippier was part of the rebuilding job Howe was doing post Brian Laws. Signing young unproven or lower league players.
He was part of an average mid table Championship side but stood out as one of our best players.
Then when Dyche came he carried on that form..and some, helping us to a shock 2nd place finish. He didn't look out of place in the PL either.. then unfortunately Tottenham came knocking.
The Championship side Lowts played in certainly wasn't a lesser team. That team with the likes of Barton and Andre Gray was a much stronger side, hence why we were clear Champions.

Re: Lowts - no future
We've played two games and already there seem to be injuries or maybe quality issues with some of the new signings. In addition VK may find he needs to adapt his tactics as he too learns.
It therefore seems to me wise to keep the likes of Lowton and Long at the club. They are known qualities and surely capable at this level. They may prove useful in the medium term. If they don't, let them go in January.

Re: Lowts - no future
It shouldn’t be about Tripps v Lowton. Both spent different lengths of time at the club, however both contributed to promotion and played with passion and commitment at all times.
Lowton has been part of a hugely successful period at our club (the best in my life time) and so alongside the things above he will always be in my eyes be a claret and tempered fondly. If he wants to stay and fight that’s fine by me, if he wants to leave and find first team football that’s also fine. His efforts, commitment and contribution to our club over his time with us have earn’t him that right in my eyes and I will happily remember the Boro celebration and the goal at palace.

Trippier and Lowton both gave top excellent service to Burnley.
Both are brilliant characters, great in dressing room and top blokes.
Trippier ensured Burnley who get a fee for him and wasn’t sold out of contract
Both been FABULOUS PLAYERS for BURNLEY and two of my all time favourites

Would be sorry to see Lowton leave but he’s been a very good player for us and I’m sure, no certain, that he could pick up a good deal elsewhere.

I think he didn’t do too bad out of that 1 himself it was certainly mutually beneficial with the signing on fee as opposed to another club out of contract just agreeing personal terms that said he could have done things differently although it made no sense to.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 9:31 amTrippier and Lowton both gave top excellent service to Burnley.

Re: Lowts - no future
I think one of the things we miss with Lowton is his "game management". He was always good at getting opposition players riled up, knew when to give them a sly boot or go through them. The Everton home game last season was a good example with Richarlison tearing Roberts apart but Lowton came on, wiped Richarlison out early on and he was barely involved in the game after that.
