Vincent Kompany - R4 8:30 this morning

Sports bulletin on R4 featured Vincent Kompany at 8:30. He sounds very impressive. He wouldn't be drawn on how this season will go: time is key for a new team to gell. He was asked about the challenge of managing Burnley. He replied you want a challenge. Said he'd never been anywhere where the club mattered so much to the people around.

Yesterday I listened to Sean Dyche on the podcast. Today Vincent Kompany on R4. We are so lucky to support the club when we've got two great people as managers.

I'm at Watford later today. It will be an exciting evening.

EDIT: And, yes, I've just seen that I'm the second to post. Of course, the mods will merge.

Just listened to it on catch up on BBC Sounds. Always great to hear a manager talk about how much the club means to the town and supporters and how itโ€™s more intense here than elsewhere, itโ€™s something new managers always seem to pick up on. Of course never having supported another club I donโ€™t know anything different but it does seem we have something relatively rare here.

Quoting to express my "like" and thanks to mods for their prompt action.

I love his transparency but whether he can still do that on a losing streak is another matter so will be interesting to see how he reacts and talks in tricky patches.

I'd expect Vincent Kompany has already developed his "didn't go so well today" style from his time at Anderlect. Plus, of course, he's got plenty of other managers to study and learn what "goes well" and what may not go so well.

I love it when you get the feeling a manager really gets the club and town, it creates a real buzz and connection meaning youโ€™re more likely to really support him through the bad times

That does look amazing to be fair but my days of professional competitive eating are long gone and I would struggle with that size of a portion (no innuendo intended).

Yes-very lucky to have had two perceptive managers in SD & VK. The SD podcast was very informative and shows SD to be a very deep thinking man. What I like about VK is his vision. He has lost 14 players but seems to know exactly what is required in each position, and as a result which player to go for. It seems the majority of the 11 new signings have joined us largely because of his presence, personality and vision. And this all achieved within strict budgets. Exciting times

I was a tad sceptical about VK when it was 1st announced he was taking the BFC job, and wondered about recruitment when we were losing so many 1st team players ... but Alan Pace seems to be backing him and some very exciting younger players have joined the ranks.

Yes exciting times are ahead ... lets just hope he keeps the fans onside when/if we hit a bit of a bad run.

Trust me it is special in Burnley as all i can say is i could walk around Galway city for a week and not see one Galway United shirt , United have a massive game tonight at Waterford and we have 23 names on the bus most times don't have enough numbers to run a bus . Ohhh 2nd in the league hoping to get promoted with 8 games to go .

You cannot beat a good Toby Carvery, second only to the much missed Berni Inn.
VK a hero for followers of Popular Culture in all its forms.
