How the hell anyone can start criticising the manager, player and systems at this stage is beyond me!

Get a life and enjoy the ride.

He hasn't had a (savable) shot to save so we can't judge him.
The cross he came for then left almost caused a goal.

Absolutely. We keep the ball for 65%+ of a game in parts thanks to Muric, so there isn't as much opportunity for the opposition to get to our goal.

All he seemed to do tonight was pass to the back 4 who were standing almost alongside him. Fine as that keeps us in possession, not longing for hoofball.
A couple times though he passed to players who were obviously under pressure which nearly resulted in us losing possession 20 yards from goal.

Tone cannot be factual but none the less, I don't think he's been rash; a little over ambitious/inaccurate in his play out once or twice perhaps but on no instance has it lead to a goal.

Not going to argue semantics but I'm sure you get my point really. I think some of his charges from goal have been rash but that is just my opinion I guess. No it hasn't lead to a goal and whether or not thT is more luck than judgement is again a matter of opinion. Anyway I don't want to bash on him so I will leave it at for me the jury is still out but I think whilst there may be a top player there (like much of our team) he looks raw and naive.

the goalkeeping abilities, he might not have had a save to make but wherever possible you can influence if the shot/header is directed on target & clearly on at least 2 occasions thus far that hasn’t happened if it had we wouldn’t have already conceded 2. That said I don’t think he’s that bad so far we wasn’t going to get another instant pope or Heaton replacement & BPF & WH aren’t streets ahead the distribution needs working on.

How many times did he give the ball away? once or twice all night? how many times did he kick it out of play? 0?

You're ignoring the 95% of times he found his team mates and focusing on the 1 or 2 occasions he didn't.

I am just glad we are not playing against Premier League teams with him as I conservatively estimate he would have cost us 3 goals already.
I’m relieved no team has took advantage of his mistakes so far.
But VK wants him to play this way…. so we have to live with a few nerves and remember the players on the pitch are a lot calmer and comfortable with this than we are as fans and will trust the system and trust Muric too hopefully

I have no idea whether he is a good shop stopper but happy to assume he is as that is a far more logical view that VK would not have bought him if wasn’t than assuming he is a poor keeper given he has had so little to do in 3 games.

Calm down lad, he just gives us oldies the shivers. Most of those quick balls lead to very little in terms of penetration. We are into this possession game now and it takes a bit of getting used to, especially with a sweeper keeper.

I'm sure he will be okay but often looks lastsecond.com

What could Muric have done to influence whether Luton's or Watford's goals were on target?

Pope was actually very good in the sweeper keeper role in the respect he came out fast, at the right times and cleared the ball well. His kicking was atrocious, almost as bad as Beresford's.

Muric is a very different kind of sweeper keeper and focuses more on starting attacks. He shows for the ball more, positions himself better when we have the ball and has good kicking and decent passing for a keeper.

He probably won't be as good at stopping shots as Pope or Heaton but he shouldn't need to be this season.

That argument doesn’t work as the 1 or 2 are generally 20 yards from goal and will lead to goal scoring opportunities which is a massive percentage of clear opportunities in most games.

Incredible post to the extend that I’m concerned that I’m taking a nibble at some bait.

A keeper who is yet to make a save is the 2nd best Burnley keeper you’ve seen?

The only way that this could be reasonable is if you only started watching us in a post Heaton era meaning that you are only discounting Norris & BPF

Over the first 3 matches he's had precisely 3 shots to save. 1 was saved and the other 2 were goals, so 66.6% of shots on target have been goals conceded.

It's a crude stat that doesn't reflect the fact that the 2 goals were point blank chances which he could do nothing about, but I hope it improves over time nonetheless.

You mean “Nick the Greek” as he was warmly known. :) :) :)

I get a panic on at times when the balls passed back to him but it’s early days yet, once the team gels he’ll be fine.

It's going to happen for every team that plays this way.

Problem is all goalkeepers bar the elite have a mistake in them somewhere. It's likely at most levels you'll see a keeper "cost you" a few goals over a season.
Then you look at playing it around the back as we have and I think we'll concede a few like this too. It's a lot to say your expecting your keeper to be in error of 5plus goals over the season.

With his feet he’s been outstanding bar one mistake last night. If he can command his box we’ve got a hell of a keeper on our hands.

I just hope he only has an average one shot to save per game, whether it goes in or not.

Our issues are converting possession to chances and chances to goals. Nothing at all to do with our keeper.

but 3 games in and so far they haven't led to clear goalscoring opportunities or even shots on target. It's a balancing act, we'll make mistakes playing this way and concede goals from it, the upside outweighs any negative.

Maatsen played quite a few stray passes last game. Think Roberts did too. THB I remember playing a dodgy one.

We’re not going to get the Keeper playing every pass perfectly when our outfield players can’t, but it’ll all get better over the season.
