Josh Cullen
How much would he go for when we do sell him? Outstanding player.

Quality footballer. I’m predicting he’ll be the new one for the numpties to bash every week though.

Re: Josh Cullen
Needs to take more control of the ball and build-out from the back from THB. Part of our ponderous play stems from there. At Huddersfield it’s as if the team were given a 3-second in possession rule, which has not been evident since

Re: Josh Cullen
My honest view is I think Cork is more available and composed. No slight on Cullen. Hope he proves me wrong but there are a few in the squad I rate higher thus far.

Re: Josh Cullen
Think its a good point.
Cork is someone Cullen will improve his own game, playing alongside.
Weve a virtually new team playing a totally new system.
But we've got Cork, who has played against great players and can certainly hold his own in this league.
Re: Josh Cullen
Cork can certainly hold his own! Man amongst boys out there tonight!
Re: Josh Cullen
But disappointed with josh tonight, sluggish and not forward thinking enough.
Cork looked far more dangerous imo

Re: Josh Cullen
To say he came as a defensive midfielder, I've been most impressed with him when he gets towards the edge of the opposition box. He's got the ability and is willing to find a cutting pass through a defence.
He does move the ball really well generally though and has clearly got bags and bags of technique. It's not surprising that Luton and Watford pressed him relentlessly after seeing his display at Hudds.

Re: Josh Cullen
He's a good player. Will be very important for us this season.
I think we could do with another central midfielder though. Currently it's only him and Cork who can play that deeper role. Brownhill's passing isn't good enough and he's better when allowed to roam and burst about a bit more. Westwood perhaps but when?

Re: Josh Cullen
How many times have we heard this regardless of who the manager is or who the opposition is.
Cork is one of those players who just gets amongst it. He’s absolute quality.

Re: Josh Cullen
Our best forward passes came from him and 2 last ditch tackles in the first half potentially prevented us going in 3 down. Great performance

Cullen is a quality player. Straight out of the top drawer and very much reminds me of the famous Dean Marney.

Hindsight is wonderful I never got the Dean Marney love in.He was very average at best
Josh is a quality player but not on his game tonight. We were generally too slow passing against a very poor team.

Re: Josh Cullen
I think he’s a great player, gives us such much needed steel in the middle. His desire to get a ball off quickly is great, but that’s where his age shows - he can misplace a through ball or get over-excited but he’ll improve game on game. I really do think he’ll be someone we look back on and say what a great player he was / we had.

Cullen as been disappointing in his last 2 games against better quality opposition which concerns me as Huddersfield really can't be counted

Re: Josh Cullen
Remember that time when we only had two centre midfielders to choose from?
Now we can't fit them all in.

Re: Josh Cullen
Too early to say.
May be a quality Premier League player and then a very big sell on.
May be a decent Championship player then May get back most of what we paid.
Let’s hope it is the former

He's what 26? Been ar West Ham and an international player. He's not exactly a secret. If a Premier league team wanted him they could have got him this summer. Looks a decent player but the jury is still out, as it is with many of our squad.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 11:26 pmHow much would he go for when we do sell him? Outstanding player.

Re: Josh Cullen
The whole concept of the positional system is movement. The team in front of Cullen and THB, were playing statues first half. If players aren't showing for a pass what are you supposed to do, take on Watford on your own.
Benson and Costello just clung to the wings and offered nothing, Barnes was getting bullied, with no help from the referee, Maatsen tried too hard, overrunning the ball. Bastien did ok, but showed he isn't Jack Cork. Brownhill needs to playing a lot closer to Barnes, especially in the absence of Twine.
A disappointing result, but the video of the match will give VK loads to work on. Rome wasn't built in a day

Re: Josh Cullen
He's good but has a bit of an edge to him which meant he was lucky not to get a yellow to add to the one he got at Huddersfield. I reckon he'll be suspended at some point.
Re: Josh Cullen
He's played well so far and, considering how he's performed after just arriving, he's going to be a key player for us. Very tidy on the ball along with some grit in how he plays. As said, Cork also key but many people have always known that apart from those who have been bizarrely claimed for the last couple of years that his legs have gone.. Then there's Brownhill who has been our best player so far.

He's vital in teaching the Burnley lads the system.
Re: Josh Cullen
Cullen is clearly a classy player but realistically he's had one excellent game on debut and two pretty average ones since. Teams are already working out that if they stick a man on Cullen to cut off the supply line, it stops us building the attacks we want.

He looks a little light weight and a short in the trousers , it's a shame he wasn't about 5'9"
Re: Josh Cullen
He will be good, hopefully. Currently, he just passes and collects many times, in about a 20 yard area. Why ever the opposing team were struggling , is null and void, as they have about 2 mins to get in position.
When he has ventured more forward, he has shown a knack for a penetrative pass.
