Your team for Hull?

Post by CoolClaret » Sat Aug 13, 2022 7:54 am

Well - the games come quick and fast in the Championship and it’s a short turn around to our next game on Tuesday night against Hull!

My starting XI

—————Muric
Vitinho-THB-McNally-Taylor
—————Cork-Cullen
—Benson—Brownhill—Maatsen
——————-Jay

In defence I’ve brought in Vitinho over Roberts and brought McNally in at CB and moved Chaz to LB - Roberts hasn’t really impressed at all, I’d prefer to flip our asymmetry and have Taylor dropping in at LCB when in possession with Vitinho bombing on past Benson or another inverted winger.
McNally is a big strong lad that looks composed on the ball - I think we need a bit more height and physicality in the team so think he deserves a chance.

Midfield for me is pretty locked on that Cork and Cullen should start with Brownhill a bit further forward - I think we should aim to have all three playing together for as many games as we can this season.

Maatsen moves in to an out an out wing position ahead of Taylor to be our main creative outlet - I think this kid is excellent and want him on the ball and running in behind as much as possible.

Benson to be given another shot but hopefully with Vitinho running ahead of him it gives him more room to cut inside to make some magic happen.

In my opinion it’s a game too far for Costelloe who I don’t think is quite at the standard required for where we want to be, Barnes makes way for Jay Rod who is more suited for our play style.

Hopefully Twine makes a bench appearance and can get some minutes because we really need that sort of CF that can make stuff happen between the lines.

The beauty of our recruitment (especially with wing players) is that we can flip wingers for inverted wingers on either side pretty much at will and can overlap our fullbacks as and when we want - I think Kompany will play on this to keep the opposition guessing on how we’re gonna approach each individual match

I have a feeling we'll start to go two up top when we sign a decent no.9
