Championship Stats (counterintuitive)

Post by CrosspoolClarets » Sat Aug 13, 2022 8:59 pm

Some fascinating and occasionally counterintuitive stats so far for the Clarets:

— Third oldest average age (25.9 years)
— Joint lowest shot conversion (7%)
— Joint 5th total shots
— Brownhill joint highest total player shots

https://www.beinsports.com/au/efl-champ ... statistics

I interpret those as the squad not being as raw as some think it is, and that we are creating more chance we think we are. We just need to get more clinical and Brownhill needs to keep doing what he is doing with no change in position for him please Vinny.

So easy to imagine us being top of the league with a different bounce of the ball, really reassuring I think.

Not how they work out the average age in that link, but according to Transfermarkt we have the 5th youngest squad in the league in terms of players used. We’re obviously lower down when players who aren’t likely to play from here (Long, Lowton etc) are factored in.

Too many young players, who are also new to the league.

I would agree that the starting XI is low age, I don’t know how those BeInSpirts stats are done but would trust the transfermarkt one you linked more. I did find the shooting stats and conversion rate the most interesting.
