Anyone know where we're at with Churlinov?
Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
Here’s a question…
Do the traditional soccer player numbers still apply in the modern game? I.e. what exactly is a number 10 in a modern fluid total football formation like we are looking to implement at Burnley

Apart from a form of shorthand, player numbers have meant little ever since the numbering system changed, so far as I can see.

Keyword search is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.Duffer_ wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 5:59 pmFor some reason this thread reminded me of pstotto but I couldn't remember his username. I did a keyword search on "surreal" but interestingly it didn't return a single post of his containing that word. I might check for "ironic" under a few of those moaning about going off topic.

Duffer, I tried to reply to your post but it disappeared… a glitch I presume, because my post appeared answering my previous post (which I immediately deleted, as it made no sense). But re-your post:

That was my thoughts too, but we do have so many people, including expert analysts on TV (former players), still referring to a No 10 or a No 9 role and using the terms to describe what the player does in the team. I call BS on all this and wish people wouldn’t do it these dayselwaclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 7:35 pmApart from a form of shorthand, player numbers have meant little ever since the numbering system changed, so far as I can see.

I find it handy, but for the younger generation it must be difficult - Tell me he’s number 697 it means nothing but say he’s a number 3 I know he’s a left back… but there again full back, centre half and half backs etc. are old terminology and I’m not sure younger fans would get that reference any better.Zlatan wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 8:54 pmThat was my thoughts too, but we do have so many people, including expert analysts on TV (former players), still referring to a No 10 or a No 9 role and using the terms to describe what the player does in the team. Anyone been Soul Suite in Blackpool?
Never heard of it till a month ago.. if you like Soul music, like the Soul scene, like the tops, dresses, shoes and dance this is the place to go.
I was a young mod late 60s and this place just encapsulates the Mod Soul scene.
Went a month ago first time...f...g brilliant. Sunday afternoons are really cool.
Must be some Mods out there....???

Interesting developments at Partick Thistle. They were owned by a EuroMillions winner, Colin Weir, who wanted fan ownership after his death (Dec 2019). It sounds like they are close to achieving that but not in a way that is to everyone's liking. TJF - which is The Jags Foundation, not The Judean (People's) Front - appear to be the more democratic and inclusive fans organisation but they have been overlooked in favour of the PTFC Trust.
I hope this can be resolved in a way that befits Colin Weir's generosity.

You used to go through and on the left hand side, you got your credit card slip printed to allow you to pay for your stuff at the end.
Back right corner: car stuff, back left, the fruit and veg room (literally a separate room) and deli (big circular island)….. bottom left: all the drinks.

Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
I am getting really cheesed off with the transfer thread. It's clogged up with so many O/T posts...complaining about people clogging it up.
My favourite is those that tell you they only have 5 minutes of time to spend reading the thread so would appreciate it if those posting would keep to the rumours, whatever that means. At times they are really unhappy with the quality of service they are receiving from fellow fans. We must strive to do better.
Then there's the sanctimonious and the bandwagon jumpers that want bans handing out willy-nilly. My favourite amongst those is the ones with personal spats that are looking to others for validation.
So, I ask, if you are tempted to post a complaint about a post being O/T, please don't. I only have 5 mins to read people's views and I don't want to have to wade through a bunch of golf club members delighting in trying to enforce their imaginary rules. Thank you.

I can't remember it, don't know if it was good, bad or indifferent. All I know is that it had to be better than Booths in Barrowford currently is now.

I worked Saturdays and holidays in Asda for a couple of years in the seventies. I mainly remember having very sore feet after the long shifts and Rentokil coming in on Mondays, when the store was closed, to deal with the mice.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 8:32 pmI can't remember it, don't know if it was good, bad or indifferent. The Booths at Kirkby Lonsdale has a much better layout than the Barrowford one.

The first animals to reach space were fruit flies that the United States launched aboard captured German rockets in 1947.
I wonder if yours are descended from those pioneers of Space travel
