Whatever you like - conversation welcome
As I posted on another thread: "I don't get the current obssession with people trying to limit content to their strict personal interpretation of the thread title. Conversation meanders, often tangentially, and is all the richer for it...imo."
This thread has no rules on staying on topic. It welcomes diversity of thought and randomness whilst respecting all the (implied) rules of conduct on this board.
So, if you want to talk about any aspect of playing style, formation, player attributes, budgetary considerations, hospitality, whether OT is in Salford or not, Chelsea's collar, or anything else without fear of offending others, then this is the place for you!

Koulibaly, sheer class. Reece James all over the park. Chelsea seem to have got over their pre season blues.

Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
Like most, I have a real dislike for Chelsea but fair points well made...and Richarlison coming on for Spurs. It's (nearly) enough to start warming your throat with 'Chelsea, Chelsea, we're having a blue...'. Nah, maybe not.Darnhill Claret wrote: βSun Aug 14, 2022 5:42 pmKoulibaly, sheer class. Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
Here's one. I do this thing at work called last man standing. For anyone not aware, you pick a Premier league team to win a game each week. You can only pick a team once. If the team you picked loses or draws you're out. If you win you move onto the next week. We started with 20 players and it'll be down to 8 for next week as Liverpool knocked loads out in week one and I know four people had west ham this week. I picked Newcastle week one and Arsenal week 2. Loads of players used up Man City this week so I'm looking good. Anyway, my question is, who would you pick in week 3?
Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
For some reason this thread reminded me of pstotto but I couldn't remember his username. I did a keyword search on "surreal" but interestingly it didn't return a single post of his containing that word. I might check for "ironic" under a few of those moaning about going off topic.

Meanwhile a burglar at the Ronseal factory was trying to break in through a skylight ... he fell into a huge VAT of yacht varnish and subsequently drowned ... his wife in an interview with our man in the court said "it was just what he had always wanted ... a lovely finish"Middle-agedClaret wrote: βSun Aug 14, 2022 6:07 pmIβve just seen a very sad news report, about the death of a man who passed away after eating too much liquorice.

Bit late for that, I think.
Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
Not at all. I chose my username based on the fact that I liked Michael Duff but also that I am a keen, but pretty poor golfer (despite the genes). The underscore was supposed to represent the usual trajectory of the ballPaul Waine wrote: βSun Aug 14, 2022 7:04 pmHi Duffer_ Do you mind me asking why the underscore in your user name?
I think someone else registered as Duffer without the _ but that was after me. Not sure if they understandably changed their username to avoid confusion or association with my views, or stopped posting shortly after joining.

Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
ALK bought a football club without spending a dime, instead they sold all it's players to fund it.
Pass it on
Pass it on
Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
How can you pick them to win if you don't know who they're playing
They're away att West Ham so too big a risk.
Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
That's actually brilliant. I think you're the only poster on here using a totally originally invented ideogram as a username. My golf-related ideogram would be something like Spiral////

You mean:
ALK bought a football club without spending a dime,
and sold all it's old players but that's no crime
'cos we wanted some younger ones and they were brought in
and when they come good it's The Championship we'll win!
Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
Collins, Mcneil, Cornet, Pope, Wood.
I'd say our better players not old players.
Re: Whatever you like - conversation welcome
I suspect I am more in the KRBFC camp when it comes to ALK but your post made me smile and inspired me...
ALK bought Burnley - a speculative punt,
Garlick trousered the cash - the total...ly respected ex Chairman of BFC was legally entitled to do so
Hmmm, needs a bit more work.

Itβs a tough set fixtures - anyone who hasnβt picked Arsenal will probably go for them away at Bournemouth
