That's sad news. He was a very good, no-nonsense player for us and an even better person. He did great things in raising awareness for MND. Here's a link to the fundraising page he'd set up:

Very sad
I played in his charity golf day a 2 or 3 years ago and after all the teams had finished playing we all waited on the first tee whilst Lenny came to join us for a photo shoot. He was really struggling at the time and it was a difficult walk for him to get from the clubhouse to the first tee but he wanted to do it. There were a few ex footballers playing and there were not many dry eyes as Lenny joined us all. But Lenny was laughing and joking and trying to make everyone as comfortable as possible.

Lenny was a true gent and a class act till the end. He was also a rare breed of a footballer who was loved by rival fans across our Lancashire clubs and he had a very soft spot for the Clarets I know.

I will always remember Lenny for sorting out Sean Gregan in the Lancashire derby v PNE.

He always gave his all and will always be remembered as one of our own

We had a Memorial Golf Day just last saturday for my Brother in Law who died from MND 3 years ago. Being close to him I can confirm the last weeks and days are incredibly difficult for family. Rest in Peace Lenny your suffering is over, condolences to your friends and family it's very hard for them especially just now.

Good player and top man. Feared on the pitch (someone mentioned Gregan) and fought a brave battle against a terrible disease. Condolences

I thought he was brave as a player, but the bravery he showed in tackling this horrific disease head on was something else.

Rest in peace, Lenny.

Quite fitting that it is Saturday, a true Lancastrian at a Lancashire Derby. Hope Blackpool fans respect his memory despite him being a Prestonian.

Bury Legends v Lenny 11 made up of teammates from his other clubs is to be played on October 9th

https://www.buryfcss.co.uk/len-johnrose ... gigg-lane/

(Same weekend as we are due to play at Coventry so may be the only chance we get to see football played live that weekend)
