No change, just my error. Thanks for pointing it out. Tony’s article confirming it too!

Above average game from a below average ref.
Can't mark as wasn't there in person but I thought he was half decent tonight.

Aside from not properly dealing with the time wasting, he was very good, as you’d expect from a Premier League standard referee.

Re: RATE THE REF - Bobby Madley v Hull City
Not a Madley issue and maybe not for this thread but why when teams make two subs is one allowed to slowly walk off, then and only then do they put the second players number off who also then slowly walks off?

Last two home games against teams displaying weapons grade time-wasting, and two referees falling for it.

Re: RATE THE REF - Bobby Madley v Hull City
I wish we could mark the linesmen. The one on the JHL side in the second half completely missed a Hull offside right in front of him after about 55 mins as he was simply not looking at the pitch...he had his head down and was desperately running towards the corner flag trying to catch up with play.

Re: RATE THE REF - Bobby Madley v Hull City
I never though he was that bad a ref but on this evidence he shluld have stayed retired because he is weak weak weak, same as most of his colleagues. Warning the goalkeeper he was on his last chance for time-wasting after 20 mins, then never doing anything about him after that. Zero authority.
Worse though for me was the geezer with the long hair who he finally booked after something like his 4th bad foul. He stood there card in hand and told the player to come to him. Said player duly ignored and Madley ended up walking most of the way over to him instead. Referees want respect but they're their own worst enemy. Should have just stood his ground and given him 2nd yellow for dissent. Its dead easy. Would get rid of behaviour like that in an instant.
Otherwise he was OK.

Re: RATE THE REF - Bobby Madley v Hull City
Assistant was shocking. Two offsides missed second half that lead to dangerous counters. Bad foul on Vitinho not given before a weaker one deeper was given.
The ref gave the keeper four warnings before ignoring his antics late on after booking a full back for time wasting. Booked the Hull player for time wasting and the instantly blew up. He allowed shirt pulls and pushes in the back when contesting in the air. Allowed a few late challenges to roll as well. Got in the way of our possession quite a few times. Another useless official.
Decision Making (including use of advantage) - 10
B. Consistency - 18
C. Fitness and Positioning - 10
D. Control and Authority - 5

Re: RATE THE REF - Bobby Madley v Hull City
I'm surprised by so many high scores for Control and Authority. I thought he'd totally lost control with all of the time wasting that he just had no idea how to deal with.

Re: RATE THE REF - Bobby Madley v Hull City
No authority, warned about time wasting a lot but did nothing about it. When booking players told them to come to him, only for them to ignore him and he chase them. Pathetic

Started well, laid down a marker, then totally bottled it. I’m completely baffled how he didn’t book Estupiñán for a bad foul, chatting for ages then the player immediately got subbed as the manager knew he got away with one. The time wasting was a farce and that guy with the hamstring trying to walk all the way across the pitch which Madley took ages to address - words fail me. A shame because he made a lot of right calls.

Re: RATE THE REF - Bobby Madley v Hull City
Hull players were laughing in his face .No control and totally inconsistent with his sanctions
As a former ref I realised early on in my career you need firm sanctions applied quickly to stamp your authority. Bobby allowed his dithering to spoil the match.

Re: RATE THE REF - Bobby Madley v Hull City
Have I sent someone off for a second bookable offence? No, but I'd have no qualms about doing it. It's like that geez who got 2 yellow cards in about 5 seconds the other week. Pushed someone over then mouthed off at the ref and off he went.
