Re: Burnley v Hull match thread
think about it, we've played two play-off teams, a team that was in the PL last season, and the team currently sitting 2nd.... and we're still learning each other's names. It's really not that bad. And if you listen to VK he wants to be there or there about around the top six by the WC. He's not expecting to be dominating this league at all at this stage

Hull are getting away with far too much.
I'd put barnes up with Jay right now and give Hull a bit of stick. Brownhill off.

The half hour delay for those 2 subs might have given JRod chance to recuperate! It looked a jaded shot when through.

Tella with a nice little turn back on himself to get the corner which came to nothing.

Great move from right to left but vital touch took it off Tella's (or Maatsen) toes on edge of box.

Tbf we can have as much possession as possible but fundamentally we are just not threatening the opposition.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 9:28 pmGood grief

I said before the game that I have no idea where the goals are going to come from in this squad and I still have no idea.
Quality in the final third is seriously lacking
Re: Burnley v Hull match thread
Benson has fantastic movement but is clearly going to be quite frustrating with end product

We’ve had multiple clear cut chances in the second half.

A fair comment. I doubt we will. I thought we'd consolidate with a possible push for the playoffs and I still think it what will happen.

Agree although we have squandered 3 good chances- having all the possession but no goals is functionally not much different to spending the whole game time wasting.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 9:30 pmTbf we can have as much possession as possible but fundamentally we are just not threatening the opposition.

Got to say, I'm hoping Benson comes good but I'm seeing a shade of Fernando Guerrero at the moment.

Re: Burnley v Hull match thread
We must have had 80%+ of the ball, but we just don’t move it quickly enough. The team is so near, yet so far. Couple of additions are for sure required. You can see what it could become.

Yep I’m watching the game, we are getting the ball into good positions but fundamentally our final ball has been shocking all game.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 9:31 pmAre you even watching the game?

You have your opinion, but from what I can see I can’t see I’m not sure where we are supposed to get 2 goals in a game from.

I think (hope) Twine is the missing piece that will move us on. We need him to get fit ASAP.jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 9:34 pmWe must have had 80%+ of the ball, but we just don’t move it quickly enough. The team is so near, yet so far. Fair comments. I will say that the three chances we are all difficult chances surrounded by numerous hull players.spt_claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 9:33 pmAgree although we have squandered 3 good chances- having all the possession but no goals is functionally not much different to spending the whole game time wasting.

There’s some real positives but for me it’s blindingly obvious we need better quality in the final third. A proper number 10 and a striker is a must.
(However Jay has made us better today).

Re: Burnley v Hull match thread
Yes, I feel him playing just behind Jay in the Bastien position is the key. We need a lot more from our wide players (bar Maatsen of course) though also. The centre of midfield and defence is absolutely excellent though. Very solid.spt_claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 9:36 pmI think (hope) Twine is the missing piece that will move us on. 3 of them shots on target were from over 25 yards.
