General Info - Preston (a)
For any info ahead of game at Preston other than tickets and coach travel.
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
Quite a few pubs on Friargate that we utilised last time with plenty of Clarets about. Traditionally this is the student area of the town and I believe it’s Freshers’ Week so might be busier than usual.

Can you still park on the fire station??
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
We always parked in a School near the ground ( I think its St Gregory's just off Blackpool Rd )

Lots of great places serving a good range of craft and cask ales - Wellington on Garstang Road (though perhaps more home fan friendly), Plau and Black Horse on Friargate, Plug and Taps, Winckley Street Ale House, The Continental, Guild Ale House and The Orchard in city centre. No pubs around the ground these days.

Moorbrook is on Garstang Road - Wellington is further in town but gone a bit downhill.
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
Last time we parked at a primary school or a church not far from the ground, close to a social club which was good for a pint, think it was St Gregory's Social Club.

The best bar on friargate is The Northern Way, Black Horse corner with Orchard St also a decent traditional pub.
If you are on Church St then Baluga Bar, Hopwoods Tap Hose and Bull & Royal are all decent. Around the ground is gash

Are there any good restaurants near the ground? I’m taking the little girl so would rather go somewhere to eat than a busy pub if possible

There is an Italian called Marino's not far from the ground. It is a while since I have been but was decent enough at the time. If Italian not suited you would be better going into town with way more options of decent food.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 8:39 amAre there any good restaurants near the ground? The Black Bull pub in fulwood is quite a popular spot for locals and serves typical pub food and is about a 10 min drive from the ground

Re: General Info - Preston (a)
Yeah Marino’s is decent but can get busy. There’s the usual chain restaurants on Deepdale Retail Park - Nando’s etc. Not much round the ground really - there’s a steakhouse that has rave reviews in New Hall Lane area but that’s one of the less salubrious areas. If struggling, city centre is your best bet, where you’ll find all sorts.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 8:39 amAre there any good restaurants near the ground? The haven't distinguished between any categories again so, any tickets will do for adults to use.Marney&Mee wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 8:14 pmIf anyone hears of spare tickets, I’m looking for 2 adults pls Thanks

2 adults & a 20-24 year old tickets have different ends torn off.
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
It seems to be hit and miss as to whether or not one of the barcode ends has been removed.
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
I have 11 tickets and all are the same even though one should have been Senior so defintately hit or miss
I may also have 1 spare but won't know until after the game on Friday so will post if available sometime Saturday

Where's the best place to park for a quick getaway? (If there is such a thing in Preston with all the traffic lights!!)

Re: General Info - Preston (a)
It depends what time you plan to arrive. Managing to park on Watling street road near Fulwood Barracks would be a quick getaway to M6 Jct 31a (5mins).

For any Clarets that are stopping off in Chorley before the PNE game tomorrow.
My pub is open in Chorley as it were before the Wigan game. I'm a lifelong Clarets fan and season ticket holder. Here we have 11 draught lines including Birra Moretti, Staropramen & Madri. 4 cask ales, 1 real cider, and a large spirit selection. We have live sports on the TV and an outside seating area. It's market day in Chorley so get in early as it will be busy without busloads of clarets!
The pub is 20 meters from the market and the address is
Flat Iron
21 Cleveland Street
Chorley
PR7 1BH

Re: General Info - Preston (a)
Suprised they are advocating The Station. Not always been the most welcoming of pubs in my experience
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
We’ve been made aware of issues with the return post-match with the 22:26hrs only having 3 carriages & the 22:57hrs being changed to a bus replacement service. We would advise #twitterclarets fans to seek alternative travel arrangements or it’ll be a struggle to get home.

Blackburn at home at the same time as Burnley play at Preston where all are on the same train line is some of the more bizarre bits of scheduling I’ve seen this season.

That happened when we played at Wigan recently, Blackburn were at home to Stoke.
There were a couple of Stoke fans on our train on the outward journey, didn't see any Blackburn fans at all on the train going or returning after the game.

There will be a minute’s applause for Alex in the 19th minute tomorrow night, so we would encourage all clarets in attendance to join #pnefc in paying tribute to Alex Tyson
Alex was a proud North End fan and followed his club up and down the country. RIP

It does have its perks, but there are some from Burnley coming and meeting us around 3ish.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:28 amThe joys of not getting the train from Burnley, being able to choose your own pub.
I always advise to leave Preston station through the back entrance and come out at the bottom of the shopping centre rather than leave the front exits with a group chanting as soon as they get off the train. It is a much more enjoyable day and drink being left alone and do as you wish.

Yeah, I have done that in the past, but also walked away from the front to put a can in the bin and got very aggressively put back in the group.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:31 amIt does have its perks, but there are some from Burnley coming and meeting us around 3ish.

Hopefully the police are a bit more laid back this time.
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
The parking places suggested by the PNEPolice on Twitter - St Greg's, Acorns, Moor Park, Brookfield Street... Anyone know from what time these places are available to park at? Might be a dumb question. Looking to arrive at around 5pm.

20k expected on so if there is one working mens club open near the ground I wouldn't fancy your chances.
Will only be a couple of quid in a taxi to the centre if arriving at 5.
