Re: Price of a twix
I went to a baseball game at Citi Field a few months ago.
1ltr can of Bud Light 13 dollars plus tip
hot dog and fried 16 dollars plus tip.
ice cream 8 dollars plus tip.
Now that was bloody expensive.

Re: Price of a twix
As I recall (from when they had big ructions about ownership etc a couple of years back) - WHU club get little or nothing from catering because some company got a 20+ year exclusive deal to run catering and only pay the club a small % of profits - and only if they hit a certain (fairly substantial) amount.
Having said which, WHU pay a pittance for rent on the ground that probably doesn't even cover the cost of staging matches.
Doing a bit of a search re what beer prices might be now, I see (sorry it's The Sun) £7.30- £7.60 and that "WEST HAM are reportedly ready to sue the owners of the London Stadium if beer prices are not reduced for their next home match."

Re: Price of a twix
I see that, even at 12 quid, they restrict the choice of beer in the offer.
As an aside, I was fortunate to be in corporate for the Hull game but our normal
seats are in the Bob Lord. The people I gave our tickets to said that the catering
bar on the concourse at the Beehole end was closed and shuttered up. The one at
the other end was apparently open but, as you can imagine, the queues were horrendous.
Not good.

Again, not too bad considering. Less than £6 a pint (although it is Bud Light)Jambounchained wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 8:49 amI went to a baseball game at Citi Field a few months ago.

Re: Price of a twix
I may have been one of the first people in Burnley to taste a Twix. That was in Northern Ireland in 1967 where I was youth hostelling. They were on sale there, but we'd never heard of them. When we got back to Burnley they still weren't available. So I'm claiming first bite, so to speak... but any of the three guys I was with might claim the honour too

Re: Price of a twix
I think confectionary was often regionally trialed back then. I recall Wispa bar was trialed in the north east of England in early 1980s and became really popular there (and in adjoining areas). People were traveling there to buy armfuls. It took a while before they were nationally launched, they were nationally popular for a while but Im not even sure if these are available now.longsidetrumpet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 3:35 pmI may have been one of the first people in Burnley to taste a Twix. I'm not sure tbh, but 6 x 600ml Smart Water is £2.25 at Home Bargains.
Re: Price of a twix
There was a piece on the radio about alternative names for confectionery that was shrinking. Things like Moon for Mars or Pram Wheel for Wagon Wheel etc. The best was Sthong for Snickers. I was proud of my Shortened Curly for Curly. Wurly.
