Re: Forest (again!)
Isn't it £25 million plus add-ons that could take it up to £42.5 million?
Their transfer spending is over £150 million this window with 16? Players signed.
People are saying it's a good thing they're sending money, including Nixon.

Re: Forest (again!)
As has been pointed out on other threads, it appears that these transfer fees are usually spread out over the length of the players' contracts so if they stay up (or if they get relegated and have parachute payments for two years, perhaps with relegation clauses too) it may be worth the gamble. Say four year contracts, so a quarter of £150 million, plus of course the player's wages for each year. Maybe that budgets at £100 million a year or whatever they now get for being in The Premier League.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 10:52 amIsn't it £25 million plus add-ons that could take it up to £42.5 million?

Re: Forest (again!)
Mental really. No clue how all these players fit in their squad! In terms of strikers, we should see if Sam Surridge is getting squeezed out, was a key man for them last season.

Maybe the owners, the owners want to give it a go at stopping up & realise spending a Bob or 2 (bit more than that) will help them achieve that & overall if that's achieved it will outweigh the outlay, should be applauded for not being Scrooge's in my book wish we had done the same thing.

I still think they'll be near or in the relegation places this season.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 11:35 amMaybe the owners, the owners want to give it a go at stopping up & realise spending a Bob or 2 (bit more than that) will help them achieve that & overall if that's achieved it will outweigh the outlay, should be applauded for not being Scrooge's in my book wish we had done the same thing.

Re: Forest (again!)
Massive gamble by Forest to effectively buy a whole new squad, and I do have my doubts how long Cooper will last if they lose a few on the spin.
Villa spent big a few years ago and only narrowly survived, well Fulham also went big yet still went down.
Forest might buck the trend, but I wouldn't bet on it.

In common with some other posters comments on here, I think there's a good chance SD ends up there when/ if Cooper gets the bullet.

Cardiff did similar with Solskaer, big spending doesn`t come with a guarantee of survival
Re: Forest (again!)
Dyche will inherit a decent squad at Christmas.

You must have missed the bit where we stayed up for 5 consecutive seasons.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 11:35 amMaybe the owners, the owners want to give it a go at stopping up & realise spending a Bob or 2 (bit more than that) will help them achieve that & overall if that's achieved it will outweigh the outlay, should be applauded for not being Scrooge's in my book wish we had done the same thing.

No but in my mind it didn't have to end, we was a whisker away from stopping up really, nobody's telling me we couldn't have pushed the boat out that little bit more to see the job out.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 12:28 pmYou must have missed the bit where we stayed up for 5 consecutive seasons.

The owner seems to be a perfect fit for the Premier League.

Re: Forest (again!)
It's not just the transfer fees its also the wage bill, this must have now trebled from last season
Team spirit might be a problem with only 3 players surviving last years promotion team that took the field against West Ham
If it works out it puts pressure on the likes of Villa, Everton, Southampton and Palace who more than likely be battling it out in the bottom half of the league

Re: Forest (again!)
they lost half their team, they were loan deals. It's quite boring seeing Arsenal, Chelsea and City spend all of the money every year. I wish Forest success
