Mike Dean....A Nice Change
Has openly admitted in this mornings Mail that as VAR man for the Chelsea/Spurs game, he got the call about Romero pulling Cucurella's hair in the lead-up to Spurs equaliser wrong.
Says he should have asked ref Taylor to view the monitor pitch-side, could then have been a red card for Romero and not a goal.
Maybe it'll catch on.

Re: Mike Dean....A Nice Change
I was pleased he got it wrong at the time because I can't stand Chelsea and wanted Spurs to equalise. However, I simply can't understand how he got it wrong in the first place. It was as plain as day that the lad pulled Cucurella's hair with a direct camera angle. Coming out afterwards to say he got it wrong isn't enough. Questions really need to be asked about his competence.

He probably only had a split second to make the decision or his view was blocked by players etc etc.

A nice change?
He gets paid on Sunday to get the decision wrong and then gets paid in the week by the Mail to admit it. Grim and quite rotten imo.

Shame he had to wait best part of a week to fill his piece in the paper rather than come out sooner
Re: Mike Dean....A Nice Change
I wonder when managers and players will start to admit they got things wrong?

I get your point but it is refreshing to hear a referee reflect on how they could have got better.daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 1:30 pmA nice change?

No different to Jay waking up on Wednesday morning thinking how he should have buried that second half chance and saying sorry to the lads.

All the coaches will be giving out directives that players have a number one all over.

Re: Mike Dean....A Nice Change
It was a shocking call, but big of him to admit he got it wrong.
Too many of the rest try and justify the ludicrous.

It’s a funny one, it’s not in the rules, and you wouldn’t deem it violent, more sh!thousery tbh but I think if you’re looking at it on VAR as dean says it’s a foul, akin to a shirt pull.
