Well it was jokey comment, hence the smileys, but I included you because of all the Brexit Burnley stuff. That was terribly disrespectful as well. Coming from opposition fans on Twitter I can understand, but I wouldn't expect to see our own fans justifying it after all he achieved with us.
I didn’t label it as such, but it was (and still is) a tag that we received under Dyche. I didn’t say it was right or agree with it, merely stated it was a tag which has followed us around on social media and when asked, the reasons why it came about. Not sure which part of that is disrespectful!

Well let's agree to disagree here. The Brexit Burnley tag was a nonsense peddled by anonymous nobodies on Twitter with less than no respect for our club and how difficult his job was. Shouldn't ever feature in an evaluation of his football or his achievements here, in my opinion.

Burnley unbeaten against them for yonks! We obviously beat them in 1978 but our run must stretch back longer

In my case I despise them because they perpetuate a mindset, along with their arch-rivals, that has no place in today’s society. One of intolerance for a group based purely on the fact that members of that group follow a branch of the same religion that they themselves profess to follow. A mindset that has no logic and should have been consigned to the dustbin of history long, long ago.

Plus, they’re Scottish ;)

The Glasgow Celtic club itself has stopped the religious angle, however, they promote the Irish connection, which is historical fact. The Glasgow Rangers try similarly.

The fans, of course, have songs which tell a different story.

Celtic fans don't march down the streets in 'Rangers land' at least.

As for the Scottish comment - despicable.

That definitely calls for the biggest WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH of all time

But while we are on the subject, does that sense of outrage also apply to the more rabid ScotNats, and their mindless hatred of anything English?

Bit of a bizarre rant. The quote you replied to from me was basically something you then agreed with was the case (highlighted above).

FYI I watched most of Dyche’s tenure in person, only the last 3 seasons I’ve been overseas so it’s been mainly through the screens. As you say, the level of organisation was outstanding, particularly in the 7th and 10th seasons, with shout outs to the two Championship seasons. At times the fast, direct, efficient football was superb to watch, even last season I really enjoyed our performances against Brighton and Spurs. I’d say when it was good it was good but when it was bad it was a really really awful watch. Overall there was probably more of the latter than former.

You can say the wheels fell off because of the takeover, I semi agree, though I think it’s making excuses in some regards, he was backed last summer with one of the largest spending windows we’ve had, yet produced a really poor season and made some rancid decisions. Jackson even showed more tactical flexibility with the 3/5 at the back system which should have won us a point at Spurs.
Shockingly selective reading comprehension. I was making the point about our PR and marketing team allowing this label to happen, not that it was in any way valid or fair.
Definitely disagree on more bad than good.
"Highest spend"- we spent less than the last summer before the takeover started, 2019, and by many accounts the window was based around ALK's choice of signing not Dyche's. Then there was the laughable January window which you kept telling people to wait and see through, I did and it was poor as.
Your point on Jackson is absolutely laughable. He was more flexible cos he played 5 at the back once? Dyche played his standard 442, an Italian catenaccio 442 with a mezzala (Arfield) for about two seasons, 4411 for around half a season, 433 on occasion (not enough I'd say but he played it). He also put 5 at the back to defend narrow leads late, on occasion.

Not even worth responding to Shaggy. He repeatedly goes out of his way to take swipes at Dyche. The idea that he's not cut out for another PL job is ridiculous. You don't see anyone outside of a couple of oddly bitter Burnley fans saying that.

Except you did. You just don’t accept any other view from your own.

Having an opinion is fine, you are entitled to it. You are not entitled to your own facts though. And the facts state Dyche was a long ball merchant with poor ball retention and completion ratios. If the negative press on our style under him were pretty much accurate. Most football fans ( not just Burnley ) disagree with your view.

Dyches record in the the EPL is that of a relegation battlers who plays agricultural football. At the best that is the only EPL jobs he will attract, even then I have my doubts.

Let’s see where he ends up.

And one of the main reasons I always have a dig about Dyche is more to have a dig at the nut huggers who can’t see the real picture. He’s done a good job for us but we needed to move him on a few years sooner to even stand still.

I never said Rangers were any better did I, and it's no shock that both sides of the Old Firm are taking opposing views regarding the death of the Queen.

Personally I find them both a stain on Scottish football and society, but they're unlikely to change their spots after over a century of division are they.

Agreed that you didn't say Rangers were any better and you make a fair point. I don't support either of them like some on here and I'm not aiming the following at you t76. Some understanding of the historical reasons for the divide wouldn't go amiss and posters who mention 'mindless hatred' etc., imho are well wide of the mark. The hatred is real and far from 'mindless' and is based in the main on life experience, living conditions, sectarianism and tradition existing in the community of one's birth. The understanding and the perception of 'the enemy' whether it be fellow Scottish or English is based on Imperialism, Religion, class history and economics and has existed for centuries. The only good thing that can be said about it is that at present it's only a 'phoney' war with both sides using loud noise as a weapon. It will become very interesting if and when Scotland declares for independence.

Paid all their taxes though, didn't they? There's only one club who defrauded the Queen and it wasn't Celtic.

You love clinging onto that one season out of 10

Probably talking about 95% of the time when it was rigid, efficient football - the style that got us the ‘Brexit Burnley’ tag.

Did you see the Athletic article on long ball football lately? It was statistically shown that we played long ball football under Dyche every season and were basically the last in the PL to do so.
That one season is a complete myth too, I remember Dyche so rigid he had Defour playing left wing at home but fans like to pretend Defour was one of Dyche's favourites and one of the first names on the team sheet.

The budget excuses is complete ******** too, we were one of the highest spending teams in the Championship and the style didn't change at all.

I’m really getting pist off with this talk of his style of play. In the PL he was pragmatic and needed to be but at times we still played proper football and entertained. In our two promotion seasons we played some top class football with the correct balance between attack and defence.
He hasn’t got one style of play he is good enough to coach the squad he is given.
Biggest budget in the Championship and we were hoofing it long to Vokes with 2 banks of 4. Lethal from set pieces and lethal with Gray through on goal. The first half away at Brentford was very much the exception not the norm.

Won more games than anyone
Lost fewest games in the division
Joint highest scorers in the division
2nd best defence in the division
Best goal difference in the division

Is an awful lot of hoofing

I would be amazed if both Middlesbrough & Derby didn't spend more than us that season

I'm not sure a happy pill would make me re-write history. We were incredibly effective that season, I was at Preston away when Barton scored that deflected free kick, the only noteworthy chance from either team. We were worthy title winners, 2nd best in games but still barely lost. Boro at home with the Keane late header, away at Brighton Keane last minute equaliser. Bolton away we made Feeney look like Ronaldo, 2 Gray chances, 2 goals. 3 points. away at Ewood, Arfield screamer, we were 2nd best. Dyche 1 niller. We had our qualities that season, out footballing sides often wasn't one of them.

I went to Wolves away after we'd just beat Rovers away and it was 0-0, not a single chance for either team of note, dreadful game.

Slumped to a 2-0 defeat at St Mirren today, ending a 364 day unbeaten league run, just shows you can't take anything for granted in this game.

If the deranged idiots who see football as a cash generator first and foremost ever allow Celtic or their bigoted opposites into English football, then that is when football dies.

The Celtic players who wanted to their respects should have made it known to the fans.
Maybe they did by all accounts after that performance.
Shaming your club before a ball is kicked is not helpful.
