But back to Jim Scott.....how unfortunate was he ?......Outstanding debut at Old Trafford in March'55.....then finds himself behind the likes of Adamson, Cummings & Miller and doesn't get another kick in the first team until March'61......that's patience and dedication for you.

I stated on a previous post of mine, that I had a lot more photos. Today I found them and for the last 2 hours I've been photographing them, ready to put on the board. Firstly I've now to look back at the pics others have put on, so I'm not duplicating, before posting.

Bottom right on second 1953/54 pic - a very young Brian Miller. He’d have been 16/17 then.

Re: 1960s BFC squad photo
I think that Tricky Trevor's 10-11 team photo would have been the first time BFC turned out in claret and blue and resplendent with a club crest - what an absolutely gorgeous looking strip. I'd love to see that crest close up.
By the way, regarding the Roggerham Gate team photo (post #1), the printed and framed team line up is well under way and will be up on the wall in the next week or so.

The line up photo is from the game we played against Real Madrid and I think we won 2-1. This was at the start of Real Madrids supremacy of European football.

Not Burnley related, but some of us older supporters, will remember the Blackpool v Bolton FA Cup Final of 1953, dubbed the Mathews final. I've added this as a rare piece of football nostalgia to share with everyone.

Re: 1960s BFC squad photo
As posted earlier by ClaretGeorgina this was our first appearance in Claret & Blue, inspired by the success of Aston Villa, the Football League Champions of 1910. John Haworth, our new manager, who took over after the untimely death of Spen Whittaker, was the man destined to bring the ultimate prizes in English football to Turf Moor in the years to come.Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 8:22 pmOnto '10/'11 and 8th in Division Two.

Front row.....Harold Mather, Arthur Woodruff, Les Samuels, Les Shannon & Terry Lyons.
One of the games was a 3-1 win against Ankaragucu and in this match Reg Kirkham suffered a double leg fracture. On his return to England he was told by doctors that the limb needed to be broken again and re-set correctly. Reg Kirkham never played professionally again.

Re: 1960s BFC squad photo
I added this photo which shows a pattern on one side as others have, to show it's a photo from my collection which I've had for years. I doubt whether other people have had an original of this and other photos and have copied my pictures and then sold them on E Bay.
Some I've lent for publication in Burnley fc books, without payment. Sadly they were then copied and started appearing elsewhere for financial gain. Although I've no copyright on them, to me it feels like the exclusivity I had, has been eroded.
