I did see him play once, he was in the team against Chelsea when we made ten changes.

Found a couple of team pics hidden among other stuff - surprising what you find when trying to tidy up a bit.

Team Pic 1.jpg

Team Pic 2.jpg
That has to be Len Smelt, 229 appearances for the Clarets......Can't believe he has been missed......apologies, Len.

Wasn’t Len Smelt our oldest ever first team player?

But back to Jim Scott.....how unfortunate was he ?......Outstanding debut at Old Trafford in March'55.....then finds himself behind the likes of Adamson, Cummings & Miller and doesn't get another kick in the first team until March'61......that's patience and dedication for you.

My dad told me about Scott - England schoolboy international that virtually every club wanted to sign. Played just three times for us and then had three years at Oldham.

Outstanding centre-back.....Dad loved his work at Gawthorpe.....but behind Adamson, Cummings and Miller what serious chance did he have ?.......But all credit for his patience and dedication......Fair play to the man.....So different mindset back then......He was prepared to wait for an opportunity that never came.

Found a site on ebay that are a reasonable size. I’ll start with these two from the same season as one names them all.

I stated on a previous post of mine, that I had a lot more photos. Today I found them and for the last 2 hours I've been photographing them, ready to put on the board. Firstly I've now to look back at the pics others have put on, so I'm not duplicating, before posting.

Bottom right on second 1953/54 pic - a very young Brian Miller. He’d have been 16/17 then.

I think that Tricky Trevor's 10-11 team photo would have been the first time BFC turned out in claret and blue and resplendent with a club crest - what an absolutely gorgeous looking strip. I'd love to see that crest close up.
By the way, regarding the Roggerham Gate team photo (post #1), the printed and framed team line up is well under way and will be up on the wall in the next week or so.

Arthur Parrington's son Graham is a well known actor (he also writes 'erotic' novels!). He was in a few episodes of Peaky Blinders I recall.

My autographed postcard, which Peter Kippax signed, using a Biro pen. A Biro was very rare in those days.

I think the photo of Mc running, was taken after he joined Stoke. Waddington the Stoke manager gave Mc permission to train alone, rather than have him drive to Stoke each day.
The Bob Lord photo was taken in 1981.

The line up photo is from the game we played against Real Madrid and I think we won 2-1. This was at the start of Real Madrids supremacy of European football.

The autographs are from the 1922 players. I've added that lots autographs, as it contains our Cup winning goalie Sewell.
Note in the team photo, the square goalpost and flimsy string holding up the nets.

Not Burnley related, but some of us older supporters, will remember the Blackpool v Bolton FA Cup Final of 1953, dubbed the Mathews final. I've added this as a rare piece of football nostalgia to share with everyone.

Sadly, by now, one of the greatest goalscorers of all-time had departed Turf Moor, a certain Tommy Lawton.

Back row.....Frank Raynor, Alick Robinson, Ted Adams, Arthur Woodruff, Tom Chester & William Smith.

Front row....Arthur Cunliffe, Willie Miller, Bob Brocklebank, Ronnie Hornby & Charles Fletcher.

We finished 6th in Division Two that season.

As posted earlier by ClaretGeorgina this was our first appearance in Claret & Blue, inspired by the success of Aston Villa, the Football League Champions of 1910. John Haworth, our new manager, who took over after the untimely death of Spen Whittaker, was the man destined to bring the ultimate prizes in English football to Turf Moor in the years to come.

This pic has Willie Irvine in the captains position, did he ever captain Burnley? Can't ever remember him doing it. Oh and can someone please put me out of my misery and tell me who is sat next to Willie Morgan at the front? Its on the tip of my tongue. Ian Towers?

Every picture tells a story, and Dad talked non-stop about this '50/'51 team.

This was taken on a trip to Turkey in May'51.....

Back row..... Bill Holden, Jimmy Mac, Joe McNulty, Jimmy Adamson, Tommy Cummings, Reg Attwell.

Front row.....Harold Mather, Arthur Woodruff, Les Samuels, Les Shannon & Terry Lyons.

One of the games was a 3-1 win against Ankaragucu and in this match Reg Kirkham suffered a double leg fracture. On his return to England he was told by doctors that the limb needed to be broken again and re-set correctly. Reg Kirkham never played professionally again.

'55/'56, this is personally a very special photo....taken at Gawthorpe in our very early days at Padiham.

Back row...David Smith, Les Shannon, Harold Rudman, Colin McDonald, Bobby Seith & Doug Winton.

Front row...Billy Gray, Peter McKay, Jimmy Adamson, Bobby Burke & Des Lancaster.

So many stories behind that photo.

.
I added this photo which shows a pattern on one side as others have, to show it's a photo from my collection which I've had for years. I doubt whether other people have had an original of this and other photos and have copied my pictures and then sold them on E Bay.
Some I've lent for publication in Burnley fc books, without payment. Sadly they were then copied and started appearing elsewhere for financial gain. Although I've no copyright on them, to me it feels like the exclusivity I had, has been eroded.

Great post. Lest we forget our heritage. We were Champions of England, a town of but 80,000 (the population in 1961).

Can't edit my post above.

Many, many thanks to everybody for the photos. On what might be a momentous day for the club these photos are fitting and necessary.
