Rubbish
Very frustrating performance, lacking creativity.
I found the game very very boring with us just passing sideways with no urgency.
I know VK has his way to play and sticks to it but he should of changed it abit and went more direct when it clearly wasn’t working.
That was a very poor Preston side and we failed to break them down.
Hopefully things click pretty soon or we are going to be playing catch up.
Based on that we will be lucky to get top 10.

Some folk are never satisfied, how many times when we were in the Premier League did we sit back ,& try and get a draw,we’re a big fish in a small pond now ,teams are happy to get a point ,we’re only about 1/6th into the season, get a grip.

Final ball is missing at times, and when it comes in it's not as lethal as it could be, but all the build-up leading up to it is great. The quality of the build-up should allow us to play more of those final balls more often when the players are used to playing with each other. It's just that last little bit that needs perfecting.

We've got to be beating these bang average sides like Luton, Blackpool, Hull, Preston if we're expecting to challenge anywhere near the top. Sheff United running away with this poor league already.

Re: Rubbish
I remember a thread on the old message board about the arrogance of Stoke fans just after they were relegated. A lot of people on this board are exactly the same. No respect for the league or sides in it. Thinking that we should just breeze it. All this "the Championship is a very poor league this year" type of stuff. Based on very little analysis, just billy big time talk.

Re: Rubbish
Preston definitely played everyone behind the ball and looked very well organised. We just couldn’t break them down. Certainly not rubbish this is the best Burnley side for playing football I’ve ever seen. They will start spanking teams once everything clicks. It might be after Christmas and be to late for this season but I can guarantee if we don’t go up this year next year we will walk the league.

No one can guarantee promotion this season or next.
There will be 3 decent teams coming down from Premier League.
Will see how Sheffield United go against a well organised but poorish team next week

Re: Rubbish
The second half frustrated me a lot. It felt very predictable and flat (esp after Taylor went off until late on). We need to develop some kind of plan b (even if it’s just swapping wingers or the player in the 10 role about with those on the pitch just to try something different or that’s going to happen a lot this year.

I wouldn't say it was rubbish after the last couple of seasons but it was definitely boring and frustrating there's no penetration.
We're going to be inconsistent all season due to the players ages.
PNE just sat back but never looked troubled better teams will do the same but hit us on the break because we look weak at the back.
Really don't understand the obsessions with moving Vitinho to the wing either he looks a complete different player there and not in a good way

Re: Rubbish
I take it the OP's view is that long balls in to the box with 9 Preston defenders in there, would have pretty much guaranteed victory?
We weren't good enough to break them down by playing to our strengths. That doesn't mean that playing to our weaknesses would have had a better result.

We'll still be behind them on GD, pretty difficult task. I think we'll be alright for a play off spot, hopefully push for top 2. Just need to start turning all these draws into wins, especially against these poor sides who just park the bus all game like plucky League Two sides away at Old Trafford in a cup game.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 11:40 pmWhat will the points difference be if we beat them home and away?

Re: Rubbish
I'd much rather this "rubbish" than some of the stuff I've watched in the last 3/4 years. Accept that we are seen as a big club now in this league and teams will settle for a point against us and will sit and defend. Imagine being a PNE fan this morning, having offered nothing really in the 2nd half, watching that dross.
We will have nights like last night, that's just how it's going to be, but just keep on picking up points, go undefeated for as long as possible and just see where we end up.

Re: Rubbish
Ridiculous thread.
I think we were the better side last night and I doubt any Preston fan would disagree.
But look at their record this season - a third of the division have also failed to beat them and most of them could not even score against them. So they are very obviously a well organised and well drilled team.
And we are very obviously a very new team, playing a new style of football and still learning how to get used to each other, the manager, the division and for many of the players a new country and culture.
I cannot get my head round how anyone would start a thread like this and completely ignore all of the above.
For me it’s going to be at least a couple of months before VK knows his best team and as fans we can start to expect a bit more consistency in terms of winning games. And even then it may be a case of moving in the right direction rather than going for automatic promotion or the play offs.
VK needs to be given 2 or 3 transfer windows and 12 to 18 months of working with his players before we start to “expect” to be challenging for promotion. If it comes before this then fantastic but if it doesn’t then it’s not really that difficult to understand why.

Because fans are fickle and we drew the game with barely testing the goalkeeper.

We were not at our best but even by scoring just the one goal we “tested” their keeper more than 90% of the other teams who have played them this season.Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:03 am“ I cannot get my head round how anyone would start a thread like this and completely ignore all of the above.”

VK is excellent in his post match interviews - he is very honest and open about our performances. He summed it up far better than I can last night saying that we were not far off getting it right and we got into several good positions. We could all see that our decision making and final ball was not the best last night and we also lost some of our zip in the second half. But it was us who were looking to win the game and we were the better team. We didn’t get beat and never looked likely to get beat.
When we really are “rubbish” I’m sure VK will be the first to be honest and point out we were not good enough. Last night was not that performance.

‘Rubbish’ - dominating a game in a local derby away from home and trying to play passing football is ‘rubbish’, compared to watching us struggle to put 5 passes together and lose most weeks? I mean it’s each to their own obviously but that performance last night was not ‘rubbish’, go back to the Cotterill era for some genuine rubbish. How long have you been watching us btw? Did you join in the PL (no bad just wondering) or did you watch us before Coyle?
‘Very poor Preston team’ - they have lost 1 all season and conceded 1 before last night, without a doubt they were the best defence we have faced this season, they werent great going forward but that was also expected, and for what it’s worth we worked very hard off the ball to keep winning it back as well as defending well when we had to
‘Based on that we will be lucky to be in the top 10’ - ridiculous statement 1. Who bases anything on one game? 2. If anything, most PNE fans on their forum are saying we are the best team they’ve faced this season and they’d be very surprised if we don’t go up 3. We are currently 5th, completely new team, 2nd top scorers in the league and without a key attacking player 4. On everything I’ve seen so far in this division we are comfortably one of the better teams
And finally - this poster posted something similar after the Blackpool or Hull game, not sure which, hence the responses, and he had us down as relegation candidates recently, hilarious. Seems he just likes a moan if we aren’t beating every team 5-0.

Yes a very poor Preston team, they will be in the bottom half this season as all they can do is defend.
Lucky to be in the top 10 is probably a little extreme but it’s not exactly out there. Who knows where we could finish, the championship is shocking this year. We could very well finish top 6 or bottom half depending on a few factors.
It’s about expectations though RV not every fan is happy with a transitional year and to be fair he has a right to be disappointed. Without the numerous happy clappers jumping down his throat because he said something remotely negative.
Look at KRBFCs post, what exactly did he get wrong on there for the usual suspects to start jumping on it.
