‘Punk for Gentlemen’
The Fallen Leaves.
Not new but remain off the mainstream radar but highly recommended if you like that intimate French Coffee Bar style gig. My old pal, mate and general top banana Buddy Ascott (The Chords) on drums.

Re: Music
Picked up a bunch of recommendations on a recent trip to Canada. My favourite so far though is a band called Wilderado..... their self titled album is pretty good. Very chilled - in a similar mould to Donovan Frankenreiter and Jack Jones I would say.

These have been going some time now and they put a different slant on quite a few standards.

Re: Music
Heard a lad singing Tennasee Whisky live on Friday night, it sounded so familiar to a few other recordings that I know but can't quite place.
Going to look through Spotify later to stop the nagging in the back of my mind.

Re: Music
Don’t mind The Car - quite a good relaxing Sunday evening record but I don’t blame people expecting a little more. It’s a bit too ‘Muzak’ in places. Favourite record is probably Suck It and See which they appear to have all but disowned in their live performances which is a shame.

And it will be my last
Music of the future
And music of the past
To live without my music
Would be impossible to do
In this world of troubles
My music pulls me through
Music was my first love

The video for this was filmed in Clitheroe. A mate of mine runs a coffee van that does outside catering for this sort of stuff

Re: Music
If you are talking new LPs
Hard to beat the Arctic Monkeys - The Car
it's opener
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FY5CAz6 ... ticMonkeys
Also love the latest Spiritualised LP. - Everything Was Beautiful.
A real return to form...
Always interested in new stuff.
Spunkybackpack threads back in the day were always good.... to get suggestions (where is he? OK I hope)
Yet I'm recently revisiting a lot of my older stuff - Depeche Mode Violater - a near perfect LP and their Black Celebaratiom LP etc Construction Time Again etc
Plus also Radiohead after OK Computer which is for some reason at the moment is "connecting" with me.
Older stuff again...
Mark Hollis solo LP + Later Talk Talk / and Budd and Eno - Ambient 2 The Plateaux of Mirror always get played late.
Another you might no expect is "older" by George Michael - imho his best work.
More older stuff.
Spent a few hours with the Chameleons - Violent Femmes - Pixies - Doves - Roses etc
Yet Arctic Monkeys win it this week for me. I'm begining to think he is nearly a genius with his writing and pushing forward rather than repeaying.

Re: Music
The Car still feels like Tranquility Base….’s poorer cousin at the moment. It’s their first album since the debut I haven’t loved. I’m sure it will grow slightly but it’s nowhere near as good as the last one.
Re: Music
Try the Submarine EP and maybe Humbug. I think it’s hard to get your head around his lyrics but once you get the jist of how he uses words things tend to click.
Just listened to his interview with Zane Lowe. The lyric “Don’t get emotional” is a response to the piece of music at the beginning of “Mirrorball” which I found very funny/interesting.
The album is a grower for sure. Perfect Sense is such a beautiful song. A great closure.

I thought this might be a criticism of the prematch drivel which is dire
