Into the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Cup after beating Spennymoor 2-0 yesterday, a team two leagues higher than them, and had an attendance of 638.

Draw takes place on Tuesday, Clitheroe have never made it to the 4th qualifying round, next round takes place on 1st October. Well done to them!

My local team West didsbury and chorlton (tier 9) were knocked out by Macclesfield town in the first qualifying round. The first time they had got that far too. You have to play about Three times to get to the qualifying rounds.
The crowd v Macclesfield was 1340. All ticket. The ground has a 50 person terrace and a 50 person stand.
However, they regularly get over 800 on. It's £6 to get on too.

No I didn't see Robbie Savage. Apparently he rarely goes because of all the stick he gets.

In Chorlton meadows from memory unless they’ve moved. Sure radio lancs results said they’d beaten a local lancs team 9.0 yesterday!

It was Longridge Town,and only 8-0

Congrats to Clitheroe. They came through a very close game against my local team (Heaton Stannington) in the previous round replay away from home. It was a thriller which could very easily have gone the other way. There was a storm and torrential downpour for 15 minutes during the second half too.

Personally I thought Clitheroe got away with quite a bit of rough house stuff and should have ended the game with less than the 10 they still had. That said Heaton have been very complimentary of Clitheroe both on and off the pitch so it seems they made some new friends over the two legs.

Really hopr they can make it into the first round proper.

That game was totally spoilt by an over zealous referee who cautioned 10 players and dismissed 2 more in a game which never really got started because of his officious attitude. Even minor offences were penalised and the player was then given a lecture, he completely stopped the flow of the game and it was not a nasty game. I thought that a lot of the problems occurred because both sets of players became more and more frustrated with the way that he handled the game.
It is the second time I had seen him this season and he was far from impressive in the first match. Difficult job, however, don't make it more difficult than it needs to be.

Just to add that Ashington beat Bradford Park Avenue, who are three levels above them, in a good match yesterday and continue to fly the flag for the Northern League.

Aye, the ref had a shocker. Early doors he didn't even caution a Clitheroe player for a borderline red card challenge and then started dishing them out like confetti. Clitheroe were putting themselves about a bit but the volume of cards was a bit much. Then their lad got his second yellow which could have been another straight red for me. It was certainly eventful.

I only see the Stan very occasionally because I have a season ticket at Ashington these days and if I am not watching them I go to Morpeth, Blyth, Bedlington or sometimes watch games in the Northern Alliance.

Not sure the situation with Bury as I know they have supporters split over the future of the club but you can imagine a decent away following.

A crowd of 949 (not unusual) watched them beat Padiham 3:0 yesterday in Manchester.

Big crowds at wdc but not good crowds . 80 percent of that league can beat each other for the most , padiham looking quite weak at the mo with some big players out

Padiham usually get between 200 and 300 sometimes a few more on a decent day weather wise or a decent away following.Speaking of which they entertain Northwich this Saturday KO 2pm

Some familiar names on that list Ashington. My grandad was from Bedlington before he moved to Colne after the war. Always retained the love of the north-east though.

John Connolly’s grandson Jake was at Clitheroe. I think he’s moved onto Lancaster now. His grandad (his other one) lives next door to my mum. Really nice family.

Anyway, away from my small penis, beard, boots and braces back to the non-league football.
West Didsbury and Chorlton travelled to Whitley bay today in the 3rd round of the f.a. vase. They had never reached round 3 before. They made it 1:1 in the final minute and won 4.1 on penalties.
This sent a couple of hundred part-time hipsters wild. Videos on twitter.

Went to the WB vs West Didsbury cup tie earlier. A very tight tense game with the home team within a gnats cock of going through. One nil up, in the last minute they had a one bs one with the keeper and hit the post. A minute later WD&C went up the other end took a shot which pinballed in the area and went in off the inside of the post. They went on to win the shoot out.

West Fidsbury had a large raucous, vociferous following and were singing continuously even though they were behind for most of the match.

There was an extraordinary pre match “talk” by the Didsbury manager when in an expletive laden diatribe he accused a number of the players of not pulling their weight and invited them to f—k off home if they didn’t want to play. Then he stomped off to the changing rooms. Never heard anything like that before.
