Southgate is a moron. Same old tactics with the same players. What is the point in calling players like Toney up?

We just don’t have the players for passing around at the back. No wonder the majority of the clubs that play this way have foreigners doing it.

We can't be serious contenders for the WC going into the finals with Southgate as our manager he needs to be relieved of his duties as this is embarrassing

Absolutely shocking defending all night. No surprise when you play Shaw and Maguire who can’t get into United’s team.

Not including Tomori in the squad is an absolute farce.

Only recently tuned in as Maguire gave away very clumsy pen. Since then, no England player seems up for this match. Perhaps they want rid of Southgate!

Southgate should never have been appointed.

Is it possible for him to be potted before the WC? Probably, but we can dream.

B0llocks. That just could've saved Southgate. Oh well, a limp round-of-16 knockout it is.

We seem to have this problem that's forever existed, brilliant PL players who just can't perform for England regardless of the manager. Southgate has at least managed to collectively galvanise them to edge out results at major tournaments but individually the problems persists. Whilst the football remains forever dull. I think some forget the good work Southgate has done, new football fans who weren't watching England during Capello, Sven, Mclaren and Roy.

Yep! I went to watch a movie and the site was down, can't be certain but I suspect it's probably due to the volume of traffic, apparently there's some piffling footy match on tonight.
Back online for a flurry of goals. Exciting stuff!

Didn't expect that after the second went in.

It's amazing what can happen when you attack a little bit.

First england game i have’nt watched for a long long time, and the first ever against a top class side…

Judging by the comments nothing has changed. No plan , no shape , no tactics or ability to change the game from the master tactician that is Southgate.

The Southgate era has been hope followed by disappointment from start to finish, and sadly won't end tonight but when we are knocked out of a WC early on we might have otherwise done rather well at. They should have potted him after his impotent failure to see us into a WC Final we got to in spite of him in 2018 was matched by his abject impotence and tactical befuddlement in the Euros Final last year. Under anyone else we'd probably be the World and European champions right now.

Absolute shite with a scrappy goal, a belter, and little else (apart from some comical defending from us).
