Wout scout..
Wout scout..
I'm not much for posting but as I'm in Turkey at the moment I thought I'd ask the local waiters about our former striker.
Surprisingly they seemed to admire him and said he was an excellent player even though they were Galatasaray fans and couldn't understand my expletive laden rant about our 12 million ( pounds not lira) former striker....
I've calmed down a tad today and the sun's out so all is well..my scouting mission is over and back to my holiday......
Cheers all...

They do know their football and were talking about the difference in quality between the prem and turkish leagues....
Re: Wout scout..
Hasn't started a game for the Netherlands since his move to Turkey, does make you wonder whether if he stayed here and bagged plenty of goals if he'd of started more for them.
Think he'd of scored.for fun in the championship in this system

With the GBP having weakened against the Euro - all are recent signings from the continent are currently costing more than the conversion when they were signedMinimoog wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 12:09 pmI'm not much for posting but as I'm in Turkey at the moment I thought I'd ask the local waiters about our former striker.

The thing with the Wout loan - if stories that they are only paying his wages are correct is that we will be paying a hefty instalment on his transfer fee this year (I am guessing in the region of £2.5m - £3m).

Re: Wout scout..
He wouldnt be welcome back
Re: Wout scout..
Gotta disagree with you. He isn’t that slow and does a striker need to be ultra quick to fit in with Vincent’s passing game?
One thing he has got is excellent control hence the ball sticks to him well. He is strong also. I reckon he would be an excellent player in the Championship but as we know he said he didn’t want to play in it, that’s why he is in Turkey.

Surely there will be a loan fee?Chester Perry wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 2:01 pmWith the GBP having weakened against the Euro - all are recent signings from the continent are currently costing more than the conversion when they were signed

Hi CP, do you think the club would have hedged fx risk? Do you see mention of fx risk in any football club accounts?Chester Perry wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 2:01 pmWith the GBP having weakened against the Euro - all are recent signings from the continent are currently costing more than the conversion when they were signed

Re: Wout scout..
When Wout Weghorst signed Burnley were in relegation spot in Premier League. We only got him to sign with agreement that he would be loaned out if the club didn't avoid relegation. WW's reason was, of course, his chances of playing for Netherlands in the WC.Jamesy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 4:20 pmGotta disagree with you. Does anyone think that WW is slower than Jay Rod? I hope he has a good season in Turkey and a good world cup.

Not too sure myself as I haven't watched any Turkish games. The waiters seemed to think the prem was faster and more physical, plus a longer season so maybe Wout may have an easier ride in Turkey....gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 3:42 pmWhat about the difference in quality between the championship and Turkish leagues?

Re: Wout scout..
Burnley withwout this Turkish loanee are a much better side. That was a bad signing for us if ever I saw one.
Re: Wout scout..
Didn’t really have enough time to judge him Elizabeth. And don’t forget we are playing at a far lower level now so can’t really agree that we are a much better side without him.

Re: Wout scout..
van Gaal is very clear when it comes to picking players.
He will only pick players playing in each countries top league.
Therefore he definitely would not pick Weghorst playing for us in the championship.
Whether Turkey division 1 is better than our division 2 is largely irrelevant.
So much hatred on here towards players who put their country before their clubs. Playing for your country is not a job like it is playing for a club. I think it's great to see players like Roberts so happy to play for Wales and I can't blame Weghorst at all for leaving to stand the best chance of playing for the Netherlands.

Re: Wout scout..
Shame it ended the way it did with him because I reckon if he were in this team now we’d be showing Sheffield Utd a clean pair of heels. There is no doubt from his prior record that he is a top striker but he simply didn’t fit in a Dyche defensive minded team.
Shocking attitude after relegation though.

Neither did Cornet but it’s only Wout who gets the hate.Jamesy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 4:20 pmGotta disagree with you. He isn’t that slow and does a striker need to be ultra quick to fit in with Vincent’s passing game?

Still don’t understand how Roberts stock rose for having the disagreement with Wout… we’d have done better without him this season.

Re: Wout scout..
Personally think he's a decent all round player; at this level he'd score.
His off the field attitude was not great, and too outspoken / honest for some, but his on the field attitude was good no? He pressed like hell, tackled back, and held the ball as well as anyone.
Best for all if he does well while away, so I wish him well.

He’s a quality footballer who will be an asset when/if we get promoted. He, like Jay Rod, was a square peg in a Dyche shaped round hole.
Doesn’t deserve the hate he gets on here. Roberts is an inferior player yet is lauded for ‘having a go’ at Wout to prove his passion.
