Depends if there was any evidence that they had deliberately misled the police.

It keeps it in people's minds, which could be classed as a positive.

I imagine people of a certain age will already be aware of it but even so if people are walking across and know of the case it can help.

Seems to me from the media interviews (the person who started this all back up) has done, it's been for attention. As Alan Bennett (brother) queried a few days ago, he was confused as to why this person was spending all of his time in the media doing interviews, instead of helping the police on the moors.

"Instead of doing the rounds of media outlets, maybe that bloke should return to the moor and be a lot more accurate about the facts and location of his find. There's a lot more I would like to say and ask but out of respect and gratitude for the Cold Case Team and the Forensic Team I'll keep quiet for now."
