I can't see how Muric was at fault for there goal . Benson on the right doesn't make sense to me , he always turns back on himself . Brownhill off for Bastien in the 88th minute ??

By the way, do you remember how we controlled the last 10 minutes away at Huddersfield? We were 1-0 up but rarely allowed them to touch the ball. Compare that to today's display.

The whole team seemed to drop 15-20 yards deeper and allow Cardiff to attack, no idea why because we cannot defend.

At Huddersfield we saw an insane high press, strangled the absolute life out of them and made them boot it long and give us the ball back. That off the ball running/pressing high seems to have faded drastically.
We wrote the same thing at the same time. You're spot on.

I'm not miserable at all. That night I was really impressed with our game management because big teams like City or Liverpool occasionally defend that way. It's far more effective than parking the bus and hoping the opposition won't score.

I hate the way we play.
There are ups and downs and we weren’t good today, but if you don’t like the way we play what do you want? I suspect a wind up here but if not then I genuinely can’t fathom your logic.

On the plus side we almost win despite a poor performance. We are 4 points off automatic promotion pace (2 pts per game) and I don’t feel we have really sparked yet.

The defence is a concern, granted. It’s the two full backs that concern me, and a lack of height in general. But this young side should get better and better as long as we avoid injuries, THB, Jay, Cork, Muric and Cullen the most vital.

That was awful. We are so soft. The subs were horrendous. Barnes zero help in holding the ball up and his movement is pathetic. Benson was poor. But AZ was the worst of the three today. No interest in tracking the runner and no pressure on the cross. Also offered little going forward.
However other starters could and should have done much much more. It shows we just aren’t that good. We are ok, look excellent in patches but soft, predictable and feeble in other parts.

I think you've blamed Muric for every goal we've conceded so far this season so not surprised you're blaming him again.
I might be being over critical but every game he looks like a weak keeper. Long ball to Tella against WBA aside, he’s looked poor. He’s error prone, he doesn’t like claiming balls into his box and most of the saves he’s made you would expect any keeper to make. The only time he was tested today he was beaten and he made a half arsed attempt to keep it out.

Another 2 pts dropped from a winning position. No urgency at all after taking the lead. Benson spent too long looking sideways and backwards, never taking on his man. They had numerous chances to play forward balls to Zaouray, yet chose not to, and Barnes? just what is the point. We pulled Cardiff on to us in the last 15, and the inevitable happened. Awful game management once again. P**s poor.

You're clearly biased and have a weird agenda against Burnley's goalkeeper. That is obvious

It feels like a loss, but we've just drawn away. Not the end of the world.

BuxtonClaret, I don't think you posted anything positive throughout the entire 90 minutes.

I agree with the press. I know he came on prior to the goal today but I think Batsen not being included is a loss in that regard. Him and Brownhill in that game allowed us to press and recover the ball high up and play at a higher tempo.

Kompany has to take some of the blame today. Taking Tella off when he was frightening the Cardiff back line to death was a huge mistake . Brownhill for Bastien needed to happen 5-10 minutes sooner. The game should already have been won by then nonetheless but there we go

Barnes is finished unfortunately

Making subs for the sake of it is bonkers, 3 at once when 1 nil up just takes away all the rhythm we had

I thought we were trying to be the EFL Man City , the most impressive part of City's game is without the ball they press in 3 and 4s allover the pitch and give opponents 0 time to breathe. There would've been an abundance of space for us to attack and score a 2nd if we weren't so deep, Cardiff are sh!t too. We're a lazy side with no urgency, just get up the pitch on the front foot and attack!

The positive thing is, you can see that this team isn't the finished article and that Kompany is still learning. But given time, and when things peak, you just know we'll be a very very good side.

Absolutely no idea what this is on about!

He was imperious with his feet. Playing perfect balls with the outside of his feet!! He’d be very decent in midfield with the passing he displayed.

He made the saves you’d expect him to.

Then he conceded a bullet headed goal that went 6 inches inside his post and you think he could save it?

The problem with this game is that we failed to score more than once, again, and sat back inviting pressure after scoring. Again.

The team were not good enough. Nothing to do with Muric.

This is also kind of my point - I don’t want a midfielder playing in goal. I’d like a keeper who’s good with his feet but I’d like him to be a keeper first and foremost.

Completely agree. Have been delighted with Kompany’s signings but unimpressed with some of his team selections and subs.

JBG poor all game today. Tella our best player came off. Barnes I just have no idea why he plays 30 minutes.

Zaroury and Benson I’d have made but played poorly.

We are showing positive signs of being a real force in this division, but yet again we've conceded from a header that's cost us a victory,

My big worry is we simply can't close games out and win ugly if needs be.

I'd add Tella to your list of key players we can ill afford to lose.

Absolutely. It was obvious where the header was going to go, and he was so slow at even looking like making an effort to get to it. It was far, far, removed from a bullet header. Sorry, but a lot of keepers would have kept it out. I’m not battering Muric, but with what we paid for him, I believe we could have done better.

I agree with this. Kompany selects Barnes at the end of the day. And you're absolutely right about Brownhill he was running on empty about 10 minutes earlier.

Maatsen has looked a good player but a poor defender so far, he's been responsible for a few goals already this season. We were sloppy on the ball today and didn't seem to have the strength or resilience to grind the win out which is worrying but generally this is still a better start than I would have hoped for so I'm happy to give the process time. I hope we dont have too many more of these though because it was pretty poor to watch.

Thought Muric was poor for the goal. Looked like he was more worried about the post than saving the header. He’s proper pap.
I agree with this... I'm still yet to be convinced by him. I know we have been blessed with decent keepers in recent seasons but he is just bang average at best. So what, he can pass it a few yards?

We could score more goals if we mixed it up and were more direct at times. It's like the players are instructed to pass it a specified amount of times before formulating the goalscoring opportunity. I must be missing something, but the we play, is just a 'style' and thats it. We are not tactically superior in anyway. It's just 'pass it'. All we are doing is passing it enough for their defence to crowd the box before we run out of options... then ball get cleared and then we start again.
