Muric 6 nothing to do, possibly should have come for the initial lump up that we poorly headed away from 12 yards out
Roberts 6 a few iffy moments
THB looked decent
Taylor 8 great game MOM
Maatsen 7
JBG 6 did nothing of note in final 3rd
Cork 8 very tidy and mopped up well Brownhill 6 see JBG
Cullen 5 gave it away far too often
Tella 7 plus 1 for the goal
Jay 5 did nothing

Benson 5 had 30 mins up against someone on a yellow and never once attempted to take him on even 1v1 when if successful would have had him geading to goal , also hooked it aimlessly leading to the goal
Barnes 6
Zaroury 6

Another game where we simply just invited pressure with sloppy passing and the wrong decisions.

We had a great spell when infront but we never even looked like wanting to go at them or get a 2nd.

We didn't deserve 3 points in truth, but it's happening too often to be a coincidence. We used to call Dyche for not having a plan B, Kompany looks very similar, and is really struggling when we go infront as to what to do next.

The amount of points dropped when infront, and especially late on is concerning

No excuses though it's another game we didn't actually deserve to win

Muric 6 - as usual, not much to do really. Had some decent passes but also looked uncomfortable at times during their set-pieces and crosses

Robert 6 - better than a last few times but still can't figure out what happened to the player how was so dangerous while playing for Swansea

THB 7 - good game

Taylor 8 (MOTM) - looked comfortable and had a lot of clearances and interceptions. Probably his best game in center of back 4.

Maatsen 6 - dangerous going forward but not so good while defending

Cullen 6 - nothing special

Cork 7 - calm and has that touch of experience whenever he's near the ball

Brownhill 7 - decent game, was heavily involved in our goal

Tella 8 - gave their defenders a hard time. Should have stayed on longer

Gudmundsson 6 - too slow at times

Jay 6 - struggled to get involved

Every sub 5

JBG 3 just awful
Brownhill 4 not a number 10
Tella 8 no idea why he was taken off?
Jrod 3 awful

Barnes 3 needs to drop a level
Benson 3 poor, negative with the ball
Zaroury 3 did he even touch it?

Today was our worst performance but sums up the season. Soft goals conceded, zero urgency to our play, coasting in games. At least in other games we've kept the ball, not today. The whole team just camped in our own penalty box, why? we're playing Cardiff not Barcelona and we cannot defend.

Where is the forward press? intensity, urgency, effort. Does this team not have the legs to press from the front? pedestrian football. We have Benson, Roberts and Brownhill playing triangles around their left back but 1 man in the box for a cross, what is the end goal of those triangles? What are we trying to achieve there?

Muric 6- did fine but they didn't test him much
Roberts 6- thought he did better but still some sloppy passing
TBH 6- no where near his man for the header, that apart didn't do much wrong
Taylor 8 MoM- Pick of the defence. Solid.
Maatsen 6- out of position at the back and he's not getting forward the same as he was in the first few games although still got an assist today
Cullen 6- Not involved enough today
Cork 7- thought he had another good game, solid and kept the ball moving, also involved in breaking the play up further back
Brownhill 6- Not quite as sharp today, tired around the 75th and had to carry on for another ten mins where he gave the ball away a few times
JBG 6- thought he looked lively but didn't quite come off for him
Tella 7- involved in most of our olay
J Rod 6- Quiet game and not much service

Barnes 5- Can't lead the tempo from the front line the same as Jay. Sad to say but no longer good enough.
Benson 5- very disappointing. Defender had him sussed from the first challenge and from then on rather than hit the line passed inside or back. Needed to hit the line with his pace but I don't think he did it once.
Zaroury 5- Think he touched the ball three times and gave it away twice but probably not a great game for him to come on in.

Muric 5 - flappy on crosses from poor decision making and the goal bothers me - did he have the post in his eyeline?
Roberts 5 - generally in the right place but too easily beaten
Harwood-Bellis 6
Taylor 8
Maatsen 4 - a hand in both goals; he lost the ball giving them dangerous transitions several times. Not asking him to change his style but just be better at it - a bad day at the office
Cullen 5 - weak and wasteful on the ball
Cork 6
Brownhill 5
JBG 5
Rodriguez 5
Tella 6

Zaroury 4
Benson 5
Barnes 5

I was surprised at how poor we were, particularly after 60 mins. Lacklustre, no ball retention, an absence of the identity/style of play that has been so prominent from the first game. Still, we got a deserved point against a poor side. I have faith that we will learn the lessons from today.

Muric - 6 - Be interested to see his shots to goals ratio - must be highest in the division by a mile

Roberts - 6
THB - 7
Taylor - 8*
Maatsen - 4 - the appalling header that lead to the goal summed him up. Awful

Cullen - 4 - Poor
Cork - 8
Brownhil - 4 Poor

Tella - 6 - poor first half but was causing all the problems second - a substitution that seemed to make no sense
Jay - 6
JBG - 5

Barnes - 4
Benson - 4
Zaroury - 4

Games like this you have to grab by the scruff of the neck. We didn't.

Cullen and Brownhill dreadful in and out of possession, Cork thankfully had a great game. Maatsen was woeful start to finish. None of the subs had any impact at all. Disappointing to concede so late against a rank bad side who never looked like shooting let alone scoring.

Won't happen I know but I'd rather have Beyer at centre back and Taylor at left back - better at both ends of the pitch imo

A point when not playing well - onto the next one, we won't be this poor again Wednesday - surely?

Ironically some of the poorest performers helped with our goal. Brownhill, Maatsen and Tella. Only Tella built on the goal to improve his performance second half.

Muric 6 Bit too static for the goal and still not convincing coming for crosses for someone so big. Should be dominant with his size, doesn't have the agility or reactions of Pope and concerns remain with high balls. He's a downgrade on Pope, Heaton and even Hart, except with the ball at his feet where he does offer more

Roberts 6 OK but expect more and rarely delivers more than 6/10 and not enough quality going forward. Vitihno is a better option for me at RB

Maatsen 6 Gets the wrong side of his man too often and not enough in second half from attacking point of view

THB 7 Solid, could he have done better for the goal though, Robinson got over the ball and THB for the equaliser?

Taylor 8 MOTM today

Brownhill 6 Not at his best
Cork 7 Our best midfielder by a distance today

Cullen 5 Too often gave away possession and it's becoming a habit

Tella 6 Gets an extra point for the goal but caught offside too often and his magic first touch wasn't quite there today. We looked weaker when he came off.

JBG 5 Better than Benson today but still offered little and no pace, most defenders know he's going to turn inside to cross with his left and his delivery wasn't great

Jay 6 Had little support

Subs
Zaroury 3 Looked out of his depth, gave it away too often, like a different player to last game against Bristol City. Disappointing and he's not going to get a run in the team with performances like that.

Barnes 2 He's been great over they years but my heart sinks when he comes on and it's getting embarrassing now.

Benson 4 Lost possession too easily, not getting behind the full back enough, no crosses, end result is a concern.

Bastien. Not enough time on pitch today. Been hot and cold so far and question marks remain. Can't see him starting regularly if JC JB and JC fit.

I'm not sure what else Maatsen is supposed to do for the goal. Our shape is appalling, the back line is either too deep or the midfield is too high, he's got 2 men on the first place and one further over, completely unmarked. Zaroury and Cullen are completely out of the game, so wherever he heads it, Cardiff were going to pick up the ball and be well placed to get a cross in. But even then Cardiff basically have one man to aim at, Harwood Bellis has to do better and I've no idea what Roberts thinks he's marking at the back post, he's miles out of position and should be ensuring that with THB it's impossible for the lad to score. In the event Cork gets closer which is a hell of an indictment on Roberts, who doesn't burst a gut to get into a position to stop thr cross once.

Muric 6 the coaching team need to work hard on his play in and around the 6 yard box
Roberts 6 gave the ball away to much in the 1st half
THB 7 solid game
Taylor 8 had a very good game, though I would love to see Beyer at cb and Charlie at lb
Maatsen 6 not a defensive left back
JBG 6 didn't get into the game
Cullen 6 frustratingly lax in possession
Cork 7 our best midfielder today
Brownhill 6 good in bits
Tella 7 decent game against a solid defence
Jayrod 7 didn't see much of the ball but was fine when we attacked

Barnes 4 what's the point of him, I'd sooner see a younger player like Costelloe on the bench
Benson 5 he needs to attack his man more
Zaroury 4 did he touch the ball
We should NOT have made three substitutions at the same time, it completely unbalanced the team.
Cork 7 best of the midfield today
Brownhill 6 good in bits

Taylor’s starting position for that goal as the ball comes forward puts us in all kinds of trouble.

That is a very good reflection of what I saw.

Maatsen header wasn't great but difficult for a little lad to do any better. with any 2nd ball being difficult to pick up given the gaps between defence and midfield. They were attacking 3 on 3 or maybe even one up on the defence and we didn't deal with it. THB, who has been an excellent signing has to do better when marking there. The shape wasn't good. but he leaves his man.

Been away this week-end and haven't heard a thing. Regardless, I always come on here and say the same thing albeit I'm always wrong.

So, I usually say: lot's of possession but not enough goals but with Tella pushing forward and an orthodox right mid we'll get done on the Left by an overlapping full back who exploits an exposed Maatsen - 1-1....!

So, how did it go?
