Even Brexit hardman and ERG zealot Steve Baker understands what footballers taking the knee was really all about

He’s having a bit of moment isn’t he? Apologising for his behaviour over Brexit as well yesterday!

FAO Granny Weatherwax

This is the post you need to quote if you are being serious about moaning at posters who are ruining the board

You appear not to have quoted it and I'd be interested to know why you haven't
I was responding to a post further up the thread if you actually read the thread instead of looking at the username and jumping on a chance to ruin another thread. You are a tiresome individual

Shoulderless football sounds interesting.
Big Bad John Gayle would have really struggled.

I'd love to have a 4pm kick off one year. Pay the police whatever they want, maybe the same as they get for doing the Manchester derby, and crack on.

Early kick offs are rubbish, the atmosphere is usually terrible. OK, it all went wrong in the end, on and off the pitch, but we've never come close to the atmosphere in 2000 since.
Fair point but I think bring the first meeting in 17(?) years played a big part in that atmosphere.

I thought football wasn't a place for politics?

That's what the anti BLM folks tell me all the time.

so...is it now a place for politics again? I'm confused.
The thing is football has been a place for politics since Preston North End featured professional players in an FA Cup match in 1884 - they were disqualified

Looking back to the game in 2000 it seems absolutely mental now that the police allowed a 4pm kickoff on a Sunday

Why is moving the game back 30 mins for Remembrance Sunday any sort of issue ? It’s just a minor respectful gesture nothing political whatsoever . Stupid KO time anyway , presumably so stop pre match drinking ? Can’t ever remember any trouble at all at Turf vs Blackburn

I for one will be paying my respects to our fallen at the Peace Garden in town from around 10.45 and I'll make my way around to the Turf after the service has finished. If I see the kick off all well & good, if not so be it.

It’s a problem with it being 530am but fortunately the 24 hr legal marijuana stores might help me get some kip.
