Burnley U21s vs Wigan
Burnley U21s vs Wigan
Another U21s game with a few of the first team squad getting minutes. Looks like Egan-Riley at right back.
Franchi, Egan-Riley, Long, McNally, Dodgson, Bauress, Tucker, Helm, Lewis, Costelloe, Thompson
Subs: Thomas, Ward, Hugill, Trialist, Mellon

Re: Burnley U21s vs Wigan
I see KL getting a run out. Good news as he's the dominant CH we need to stop this alarming collapse at the back when we're a goal up late in the game and the other team starts to really press. IMHO of course.

Re: Burnley U21s vs Wigan
We already have a good centre back in Beyer. Although Charlie has played very well there, I would play the Kaiser Beyer at centre back with Charlie moving to his best position at left back. This would give us height in defence and more balance: also, though Maatsen is a good player, he is not a great defensive left back, he could be played in a more forward role.

Not wishing to extend the Barnes discussion, but I would honestly prefer to see someone like Costello on the bench in the first team squad.

Re: Burnley U21s vs Wigan
With us playing twice a week, any player on the bench wouldn't be able to play for the u21s.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 2:56 pmNot wishing to extend the Barnes discussion, but I would honestly prefer to see someone like Costello on the bench in the first team squad.
I'm not sure what would be better for his development?

Re: Burnley U21s vs Wigan
It's a good option Vino Collapso because right now teams know that we will fall back late in a game and they can pump in high balls until they get a goal. However I still feel with KL on the bench we have someone we can bring on in say the 75th minute to counter this mode of attack. Right now you just know that teams will allow us the ball for most of the game and in the last quarter just bombard us with long balls and get success. West Brom did it and Cardiff did it last Saturday. VK needs to learn how to deal with this league and it's part of his learning curve.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 2:07 pmWe already have a good centre back in Beyer.
