Coventry City

Post by Jakubs Tash » Sun Oct 30, 2022 5:19 pm

Reliable journo from The Telegraph, John Percy, released a story earlier today that Coventry are in talks with Walsall about a ground share and also confirmed that they are in another transfer embargo.

Surely, if VK wanted O’Hare that badly a deal can now be struck early in January. Can’t think of any reason O’Hare wouldn’t fancy it himself and Coventry clearly need the money.

Well, that would be up to the manager….

There’s nobody else like O’Hare in our team currently. He’s a proper no 10. A player like him would certainly help to break down stubborn teams who defend with such a low block like a few have already this season (like Reading yesterday).

Did we sign Twine before or after we kept going back in for O’Hare? As Twine also looks like a number 10.

He bagged a great assist for them yesterday. Sort of play that would come in handy against teams who park the bus against us

We won't really know until we've actually seen him, which unfortunately seems a long way away :(

The type of assist in the middle of the park we’ve been crying out for at times

Guess it depends on the fitness of Twine / Churlinov

Another club shafted by chancer directors who had only personal gain in their minds
It started way back selling Highfield Rd and has declined since with the club very badly mismanaged with a series of very poor business decisions. Loyal supporters who deserve better, ground share with Walsall, you couldn't make it up

Given the number of ST holders at Cov if they do end up at Walsall it’s going to be a big problem as I do believe the number of ST holders is greater than the Bescot’s capacity

Yeah they've got an embargo because of money owed to HMRC (at least partially due to them missing the income from those 3 cancelled home games at the start of the season).
It looks like Wasps RU club has a possible buyer (from the administrator) but seems the bid is just for the rugby team and not inclusive of the stadium.
Who would want that actual stadium though? There are other facilities attached but the stadium itself now seems redundant with no big footy or rugby club there.

Yes they probably lost around £500k + of incoming walk on gate receipts say 6k per match at £30 each plus X million thanks to a certain player staying put due to injury.

Chris Boden suggested Coventry were still trying to sell him to us towards the back end of the window (after his injury).

Dabo has been getting pelters on social media from Coventry fans. Apparently he runs out of steam too often. He’s also 27.

Gyokeres would be the one for me but in the summer to replace Jay.

Strange, I have a lifelong Cov supporting mate who thinks Dabo is the dog's Knax :D
All about opinions, I guess.

BTW, I'm in no way suggesting we should be interested in him.

Stadium on a long lease to WASPS but owned by Coventry Council.

Watched that back and it was indeed a great assist (although the striker still had a lot to do). In the highlights he also made a great run that wasn’t found and some other sharp play. Looked better on a 2 minute video than I recall his YT highlights looking in summer.

I’d be shocked if we still went for him now we have Churlinov/Twine.

I think we were still after him after signing Twine, and Churlinov is a winger so I don’t think that would impact our desire for him. I remain convinced COH would have already been a Burnley player but for his injury, and I reckon he’ll sign for us in January.

Just looking at pictures of Highfield Road on Google Images. They had a good thing going there, and the stadium would still be suitable, even by todays standards with a bit of redevelopment.
