Bob Dylan
Went to see him last night. Last night of UK tour. Quite astounding. Made up for being shell shocked earlier in the day.

Re: Bob Dylan
Going to the Dublin gig tomorrow.
Hope it’s better than last time. Last night of a world tour and he never came front and centre all night. All the band wearing homburgs and for all I know it could have been a body double.

Re: Bob Dylan
I've seen thousands of live acts and never thought to judge any of them on where the artist stands.

Re: Bob Dylan
Saw Dylan at Hyde Park summer 2019. He was in one of those "can you guess the song, now we've changed the tune" moods. He hardly acknowledged the audience. Decided that was the last time I'd get a ticket to see him. I've read good reviews of his latest tour, almost chatty with the fans, playing songs from Rough and Rowdy Ways. A good gig. I wish I'd got a ticket when I had the chance.

It does help if you can see them though, isn't that why you pays your money?what_no_pies wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 11:01 pmI've seen thousands of live acts and never thought to judge any of them on where the artist stands.

Top of the range RIP OFF, 337 Euros per head.
Re: Bob Dylan
Anyone surprised at Dylan’s stage etiquette clearly hasn’t read a review of any of his shows since the late 1980s, which it would really make sense to do before you go and see any artist.
I saw him last week and he was immense. Didn’t catch sight of him too often from behind the piano and he wasn’t too chatty but I can’t say that bothered me as I was there to hear Bob Dylan sing live, not a meet&greet. Someone next to me complained that there wasn’t much old stuff, the set was almost entirely made up of songs from ‘Rough & Rowdy Ways’… ‘Really,’ I thought, ‘on the Rough & Rowdy Ways Tour…’

Seen him twice at the MEN where it was quite poor. Seen him at Blackpool winter gardens and it was brilliant.
The smaller venues suit him

Re: Bob Dylan
If I’m paying good money to see Bob Dylan I want to see Bob Dylan. As I said he was that far back it could have been anybody with a vocal from the sound engineers.what_no_pies wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 11:01 pmI've seen thousands of live acts and never thought to judge any of them on where the artist stands.
Reading posts above it sounds like this tour is more fan friendly, I hope so. He’s 80 now and this will be the last time.

Bob would argue that you are paying good money to listen to Bob Dylan, not see him, and there's never any doubt that it is Bob's nasally drawl that you are listening to.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 12:27 pmIf I’m paying good money to see Bob Dylan I want to see Bob Dylan. Re: Bob Dylan
I hope to witness a musician by hearing them perform their music live. Most of the visually interesting acts i've seen have been behind screens, smoke, huge lighting shows, projections etc which often mean you don't see the artist. Those shows (Gorillaz, The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, Roger Waters & Tool are ones rhat sping immediately to mind) were better for folk being immersed in an experience and not gawping at some celebrity.

Re: Bob Dylan
Back in the 70s I saw King Crimson at the FTH and Bob Fripp sat down all night almost in the wings. Still a phenomenal gig and his playing was excellent. Are totally with you bud.what_no_pies wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 11:01 pmI've seen thousands of live acts and never thought to judge any of them on where the artist stands.
