Ben Mee assist
Re: Today's footie 12/11
Superb so far. Some nice ball distribution from someone who "can't pass" according to some of our fans.

Celebration all gathered around Toney to support him after missing out on England call-up.
Could also see Ben taking the lead, telling everyone to keep their heads, exactly the type of experience you want in this situation.

St Mirren 1 Rangers 0, GVB really can't afford another defeat.

Has Ben Mee released Haaland from his pocket yet?
Re: Today's footie 12/11
Get in. Should be in the WC squad.

2-1 Brentford Toney again, think this lad might have a point to prove for some reason.
Rangers finish 1-1 so more dropped points.

Get in, always good to see Pep and City get beat. Hopefully Arsenal can keep making it interesting in the new year.

What a result for Brentford. Good news for Arsenal. I hope they win the league.

City struggling to break down a 5-3-2. Sound familiar?

Re: Today's footie 12/11
10 of the 11 who started for City off to the World Cup - maybe looking into it too deep, but is a player going to be as committed so close to a major tournament? Not that I’m saying they downed tools or anything, but are you going to go full blooded into a challenge with, say, Ben Mee if you were off to Qatar in a few days? Brentford were excellent though.
Re: Today's footie 12/11
Could’ve jigged it around a bit and left out a defender or midfielder.
If we’re talking replacing like for like then Rashford or, dare it say it, Sterling.

Not exactly too wild a prediction, but I did expect some freak results this weekend. Leeds likely to beat Spurs too I feel.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 2:39 pm10 of the 11 who started for City off to the World Cup - maybe looking into it too deep, but is a player going to be as committed so close to a major tournament? Just goes to how over the hill Southgate is. Overlooking Toney for Wilson is absurd.

Re: Today's footie 12/11
We only play one centre forward though so he would have been third choice, and considering Kane plays almost every minute he probably wouldn’t have seen any action. Guess he’s a good chance of being first reserve should someone drop out this weekend though.

Re: Today's footie 12/11
Hardly, they’re very similar in quality and was a tough decision. I’d have gone Wilson too. Anyway, let’s not get into another Southgate slagging off session, it’s very dull.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 2:42 pmJust goes to how over the hill Southgate is. Re: Today's footie 12/11
There was a strong case for Toney being included.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 2:42 pmWe only play one centre forward though so he would have been third choice, and considering Kane plays almost every minute he probably wouldn’t have seen any action. Re: Today's footie 12/11
Not sure about that. Wilson has been excellent for Newcastle who themselves have been outstanding. Plus he’s had several caps already.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 2:42 pmJust goes to how over the hill Southgate is. Overlooking Toney for Wilson is absurd.
Re: Today's footie 12/11
There were several other options. But anyway you asked who I'd have him instead of. Southgate obviously thinks otherwise and on the whole his selections can't be criticised too much.
Re: Today's footie 12/11
We’ll done today to Brentford. Turning to the WC and the inclusion of Wilson, it’ll be interesting to see if he and Kane can form a partnership. Hope the lad keeps free from injury as I think he’s going to do very well for us. Toney is unlucky not to be included as he offers something different depending on the opposition.

A braver manager would have taken both. Should have been in in place of Gallagher who will get a grand total of zero minutes

Maddison scored but now gone off injured at West Ham, might mean GS has to change his initial squad.

Re: Today's footie 12/11
Yeah I don’t really understand Gallagher’s inclusion either. Not sure bravery has got anything at all to do with Southgate’s squad selection though. But Southgate has seen all of these players at close quarters and some will fit the way he wants to play more than others. Toney’s performance today doesn’t really count for much, his role in Brentford’s team is a lot different to what he would be expected to offer England.roperclaret wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:25 pmA braver manager would have taken both. Re: Today's footie 12/11
Kane goal after clear foul on keeper. I hate Leeds but the got screwed there
Re: Today's footie 12/11
Hope VK was watching the City game today. Suspect Rovers will have a very similar game plan as Brentford.

Cardiff been the better side against sheff utd first half.

Cardiff should have scored with a header but put it wide. Might regret missing that chance.claretandy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:51 pmCardiff been the better side against sheff utd first half.

2-3 to Millwall - hat trick for Flemming, who looks to be a very good player at this level.
Re: Today's footie 12/11
Not really seen much of him aside from highlights, certainly on a good run lately.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 4:25 pm2-3 to Millwall - hat trick for Flemming, who looks to be a very good player at this level.
