There's way more interesting teams than England playing over the next month.

Southgate is one of the most boring negative people in football.
Hope he gets his books after the World Cup and we never see or hear from him again.

Forgotten?
Jesus, there's adverts about the WC every thirty seconds.
And every ex-player is having his say on five live about the squad.
Can't really say we've forgotten.

I don't have too many principles but one is to not watch any of this year's WC.
I think WC is a fairly apt name.

The World Cup is every football fans dream, back to back to back to back games live on TV, can't beat it. This place is full of people who don't watch football though, they just catch the occasional Burnley game or only watch Burnley play.

This is the least arsed I've ever felt about a world cup. Stupid time. Stupid place. Just stupid stupid. Decisions made by fuxking morons who sadly are now very rich morons due to the corruption. We should have refused to take part
I really hope the global viewing figures tank.

Re: I think people have forgotten.
I’ll watch the first game with my laptop on my knee working away, will try and get in to it though for the bigger games
Re: I think people have forgotten.
Always been an England fan but this mid-season circus is against everything the football gods set out
Re: I think people have forgotten.
Not forgotten about it just think it’s the wrong time, wrong place and wrong set up. I’m English through and through but am struggling to get enthusiastic about our team or chances. Far more important game today !

What's "stupid" about it?BabylonClaret wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 4:01 amThis is the least arsed I've ever felt about a world cup. Stupid time. Stupid place. Just stupid stupid. It'll be hyped up to buggery on tv. ...but not my TV.
Re: I think people have forgotten.
They've had to mess with the entire football calendar to accommodate it, they haven't got the infrastructure/hotels to deal with such a big event, not to mention the slave labour that has been used to build the stadiums. The whole thing is so blatantly corrupt it stinks to high heaven.

Yes, I do see your points even though I do not agree with them. Slave labour is just the modern world, unfortunately. It's not stopping people from buying electric cars is it.jrgbfc wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 9:04 amThey've had to mess with the entire football calendar to accommodate it, they haven't got the infrastructure/hotels to deal with such a big event, not to mention the slave labour that has been used to build the stadiums. Re: I think people have forgotten.
Just think of the environmental damage. Qatar have had to build a whole load of stadiums that will be totally redundant when the World Cup is finished whereas they could have held the competition in a country A) big enough B) with most of the infrastructure in place to host a global tournament.
Re: I think people have forgotten.
Environmental damage. I think we should get our own house in order before we challenge them on that.

Well, I for one won't be watching much, if any of it - I guess it depends how far we goBabylonClaret wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 4:01 amThis is the least arsed I've ever felt about a world cup. As KRBFC said, this tournament used to be a delight wall to wall football on tv and I once watched it all with glee, much like the Euros, Champions League, the Olympics and even Formula 1 I now watch none as a result of how twisted and corrupt they have all become.

Re: I think people have forgotten.
I will probably find myself watching the England games for as long as that may last, but will not watch many other matches, especially the opening ceremony/game. The whole thing is bonkers and the national football authities should have had the balls to boycott the farce.

Re: I think people have forgotten.
It's right in the middle of the bloody domestic season of pretty much all nations. Was watching Arsenal yesterday and xakha went off with a knock - he might kiss the competition - at least in summer there's around 4 weeks after a season.
Players will come back tired back into a season - people moan about world Cup hangovers when there's six weeks to come back from.
That alone should be enough to call it stupid.
Then to have ut in a country where its too hot to play football properly, there's no football infrastructure and they're rushing to get stuff ready. And fir what reason? To promote football? Bullshit. Because they paid more for it. And why? To add legitimacy to a corrupt and inhumane regime.
What's not stupid about that?

Couldn’t give a shiny **** about this borefest of a competition after today’s proper football event.

Re: I think people have forgotten.
Until they start throwing fans in prison for being slightly drunk, for swearing (apparently), or for just being gay. Not to mention disrupting pretty much the whole world football calendar. I hope it loses money. I really hope the TV audience is minuscule. I hope the cretins who awarded it to them are happy with their ill gotten gains. I always support England at tournaments and unlike some on here I don’t have any problem with Southgate (just because he hardly ever picked Pope I believe) but I really don’t care a toss whether we win or get knocked out at the first hurdle because we shouldn’t be there and neither should any other right thinking nation. This WC has one thing only about it…it’s the epitome of everything bad about money in football. As far as I am concerned the next WC after Qatar will be 8 years after the previous one because I’ve decided this one doesn’t exist.claret2018 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 10:00 amI’m looking forward to this World Cup more than most. Re: I think people have forgotten.
Best competition in any sport IMO. Looking forward to it. Also think the winter break should have come years ago to English football. I don't dismiss the points people make but I just watch the football the same add players and managers play it. It's not my decision to host it there and my viewership individually will make no difference.
Plus, I think hosting the event there will hopefully improve the relationship between the east and west.
