We never seem to draw lower league sides away in the FA cup, can't remember the last time it happened.
Since the 1990/91 season (Third Round onwards)

94/95 Season 3rd Round - Cambridge (League One) v Burnley (Championship) - Won 4-2
01/02 Season 4th Round - Cheltenham (League Two) v Burnley (Championship) - Lost 2-1
02/03 Season 4th Round - Brentford (League One) v Burnley (Championship) - Won 3-0
03/04 Season 3rd Round - Mansfield (League Two) v Burnley (Championship) - Won 2-0
09/10 Season 3rd Round - MK Franchise (League One) v Burnley (Premier League) - Won 2-1
09/10 Season 4th Round - Reading (Championship) v Burnley (Premier League) - Lost 1-0

They beat us in the cup 2 years ago in round 5 when we were mince that night.

A realistic chance of revenge even if a home tie would have been better.
Quite right, I’d managed to obliterate that memory. I used to collect programmes and I always remember the Bournemouth and Boscombe away programme. Naturally I looked up the result and was amazed to find 1. They were a league side and 2. They got a Draw against us. Funny what you remember as a kid. Around a 35 year old memory that.

Shocking draw. A very hard game at a ground about as far away as it’s possible to be and still be in England. Awful.

But its still one that we have a reasonable track record at. Plus they will probably be less excited by it than we are.

There are no nice hotels in Boscombe. You have to venture into either the East Cliff or the West Cliff.

I seem to recall having a FA Cup tie against them way back when. We drew 1-1 away and beat them 7-0 at home in the replay with a certain Mr Lochead scoring 5 headed goals. He did have a Mr Coates and a Mr Morgan delivering crosses though. It's the wettest I've ever been at a match BTW.

I stayed in a very nice small hotel that I could recommend, the area is not great but this place is a-little gem.

I remember that in the early 60s. Viscount Montgomery was at the game as a guest of Bob Lord. The headline in the Burnley Express was something like 'Monty says Hit 'em for 6, but Burnley make it 7'. :)

Wasn't that the game when Bob Lord fell out with the BBC forcing them to remove their cameras from Turf Moor?

To be fair it is possibly, in my opinion, the worst possible draw. Our history there doesn’t matter. They are a PL club away. They are unfashionable so there is no glamour. And it is an awful long journey to which I would expect minimal following due to probably a reduced squad. I actually find it hard to imagine a worse draw.

We will of course win there now. 🤪

Indeed it was. I was 10 years old and wasn't able to go to the replay as I was poorly. So I was very happy when I found out the game was live on TV. Then Bob Lord stepped in
