There doesn’t appear to be (m)any photographs of the Burnley fans at Wembley in 1988. Ones this photo, mainly of the Wolves fans. I’ve seen a few of Wolves down the years, though they did have almost 50,000 there, including a few thousand in a section in our end.

I traveled up from Bournemouth on the day, we took forever to get out of the car park at the stadium, but managed to get a pint at Ringwood on the way home.Unbelievably there were wolves fans in the pub who had also traveled up from Bournemouth. Great day out though.

Amazing that a mere 12 months after almost dropping out of the league we were enjoying a day out at Wembley in front of 80,000, including around 30.000 Clarets.
I was 12 at the time, and I only remember moments from the game, however it was the day itself that really sticks in my mind as Burnley finally being back on the football map again.
