:D I'm the one in the bucket hat.
All from Keighley names (nicknames) left to right
Jonny B, Wilkie, Baps, Slots, me and Simon.
No idea who the Noel Edmonds lookalike is bottom right.

Brings back memories that.

Anyone else still got their ‘Wembley Tour’ t-shirt. I wore mine for years as an extra layer under whatever top i wore to the match until it finally had too many holes in it. Bet i got 20 years out of it. Still have it somewhere but it’s in no fit state to wear again.

I'm sure I got mine from the club shop and it was one of thousands which said "Burnley: Were off to Wembley". Correct punctuation would have made all the difference!!! 😁

Travelled down from Leeds by car, where I was a student.Police stopped us from going into Northampton on the way back to celebrate, so managed to get last orders in the Trades Club, where I worked.
These days I'd make a weekend of it. Great memories though.

I was there. My Uncle got married the day before the final near Dudley, which is prime Wolves territory. I had the back of my head shaved with a number 1 guard and then had BFC shaved into it with a razor. I had my photo taken facing away from the camera more times than facing it (some may say they got my best side). My uncle sadly died in 2014 and his wife in 2020 and at both funerals i still had people who were at the wedding talk to me about my hair on the day!

We set off on the Sunday morning, a lone Ford Escort clad in claret and blue in a sea of Gold and Black cars, coaches, vans and the like. Great dya out, made all the more special as it came 12 months after the Orient game.

I was there.
Went down with a bunch of friends in a hire van - may even have been a Sherpa ! Think the hire company was Ryder if that rings a bell with anyone.
Brilliant day and most fans I seem to remember were not that bothered we had been beaten. It was fantastic just to get to Wembley after our recent troubled seasons and we were definitely a team on the up. We played against an excellent Wolves side with Bull and Mutch up front I think so we didn’t really expect to win.

The semi final away leg at Preston was also one of the most memorable away matches in all my time supporting the club. I still don’t know how we won that game. Plastic pitch and their winger Brian Mooney terrified our defence that day. He was apparently nicknamed by their fans ‘King of the Plastic” !!!!

Went down with my brother Pete in his yellow knackered Cortina which had gasket problems and was smoking heavily. For some reason the burning oil smelled like pungent garlic. We picked up a couple of Clarets hitch hiking from Charnock Richard, we offered them a lift back up but by the time we got to the Birmingham they had changed their mind!!! :D - Christ knows how we made it there and back.

I remember a load of Wolves fans goading us out the back of a van in the queues on the way back up but to be fair they did share some beers!

I was in Nepal and in those far away pre-internet days had a hell of a job getting the result, eventually resolved by enquiring at the office of the Times of India newspaper's correspondent in Pokara. He phoned head office in Delhi and they called back on Monday afternoon with it... Disappointing when I got it too ☹️

We went to the Football League v Rest of World in 1987 (mainly to see Maradonna play). I was asked by my dad’s mate John if I enjoyed it. I replied it will be better next season watching the Clarets! He laughed but remembered what I said and reminded me of it as we sat watching the Sherpa Van Final.

My memory is I wasn’t that disappointed that we didn’t win, it was a hell of a turn around for us just to be there, and Preston away I already counted as the final, Wembley was a bonus.

I was there with my brother in law. We travelled down on a yellow and red BCN bus; chrome top seats, request to stop bell's, the lot. I think the council organised the use of these local buses to help with the high demand for the final.

Only 8 at the but remember the Wembley t shirt (think it had the teams we’d knocked out on route to the final on it!). We travelled on an Althams coach that broke down coming out of Burnley and we just managed to get on the ground for kick off!

Went from Whalley on a coach, set off at 6.30am day of the game, it broke down on the way down but got fixed, made it onto the terraces just as the teams came out and broke down on the way back......got home to Clitheroe exactly 24 hours after setting off....what a day though

Remember it well , getting to Wembley was like the end of the beginning of Burnley’s long climb back up the lge. Pretty sure there was a pre match on the pitch of clarets legends vs Wolves legends - noble was playing. Think we lost that one two. Remember being at a tube station in London all going back to Euston for the train and singing to the wolves fans on the opposite side, we only came here for the van. (Times were hard then :))

The look on there faces at the joy and laughter after we’d lost was beyond them . But the fact that we were at Wembley so soon after nearly getting wound up was all that mattered that day.

Even though we lost, seemed like both sets of fans stayed behind for the trophy presentation…..and the lap of honour singing “Bullsh#t, Bullsh#t” to Steve Bull and Andy Mutch who just smiled and applauded…..

Brilliant day…..

A poster above says it was the begining of the end. The end of us being an under achiever.

Those of us who have contributed to the semi final.thread will reflect what a great experience this was.

Im not afraid to say i was overwhelmed with emotion when we walked out.

This was a relatively new competition. Its a geat idea. Every fan should see their team walk out at wembley.

I can still see the ball go out off a Wolves player and wrongly given as a corner, which they scored from.
