Portugal vs Switzerland

Ronaldo starts on the bench for bad language towards the coach (allegedly)

Come on the Swiss! Would guarantee one of either Morocco or Switzerland in the semi finals. And if England beat France they’d have a good shot at reaching the final! 8-)

Ronaldo falls out with the Man Urd manager, now he falls out with the Portugal manager, I wonder what the common denominator is.

CR needs to remember he's now 37, and the lad Portugal have brought in to replace him has bagged a good amount of goals in Portugal this season.

That said if Portugal do need a goal later in the match he'll be a heck of a sub to call upon against tiring defenders.

Muric would(n't) have saved that

Portugal looking very busy at the moment. Could be a few more goals to tonight

Impressive 1st half display from Portugal and well worth their 2-0 advantage, and it probably should have been more than 2.

Not many positives to take from this Switzerland performance but their flag is a big plus.

I bet the Portugal manager is absolutely loving the fact that Ronaldo’s replacement this evening has just bagged himself a hat-trick! 🤣
Sit back down Cristiano, you’re not required today or even better still, with 3 minutes left, ‘Cristiano, you’re on’ 🤣😂

😂😂 If Messi had played in prem, we would be able to judge, but he didn't fancy it. Spanish league was his limit.

That's a statement victory by Portugal, and all achieved without Ronaldo for most of the game.

Must admit I didn't think they would pose England any problems if we were both to meet in the Semi-finals.

But I'm a bit worried now.

Long way to go before England or Portugal can think about meeting in a semi-final, but that was a bit frightening as Switzerland are no mugs.

Messi has scored 27 goals in 35 games against PL teams, 15 more than anyone else has managed. That’s the top 6 PL teams too. I reckon he’d do alright against Ben Mee and co.

And a Brace against the PL Champs 😉 granted they were champions 27 yrs ago, and the only link between that team and this ... is the name and "that place of misery" 🤭

Don't want to derail the thread, and Ronaldo is immense, but Messi is the best of his generation if not ever.
