Much as we appreciate what players like Westwood, Lowton, Long and even Barnes have done for the club, we have to appreciate BFC is not a charity. Will be great to get the first three off our wage bill, and blend in players who will become our future

Links like this under dyche you could pretty much squash straight away but since kompany has arrived, any link or rumour seems possible

Most significant thing Kompany has achieved in 6 months is making us attractive to exciting young European talent like the chap that posted on Zaroury’s instagram. That’s really important for us.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 6:17 pmLinks like this under dyche you could pretty much squash straight away but since kompany has arrived, any link or rumour seems possible

I can't see any of those four making it into the matchday squad very often if at all, though Barnes could still play a part depending on what we do in the upcoming window.

I have not been in the "Barnes to stay camp" for a while but in fairness since the Rovers game he has been a very valid member of the squad, and a big part of our game management when he comes on with about 15-20 minutes to go. However I feel by the end of the season, him getting into our team will be too big a challenge for himboatshed bill wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 6:27 pmYou are right.

We won't have the "heavy pitch" problems of yesteryear so that should save us a player or two
Re: January transfer window rumours.
According to Nixon, Lowton is gone. Doesn't say where, just says he is gone.

Sentimental, but if Lowts is off, I hope he can have a cameo somewhere, just so that the fans can show their appreciation. He's been a good solid pro for us.

FA Cup at Barnsley and in the closing minutes made a mess.of a very.simple.cross providing them with a simple winner. In the grand scheme of things not significant but Lowton doesn't need a send off, he must have e some very happy memories of his time at Turf Moor.

This position has to be the top of any potential recruitments in January even if someone only comes in on a loan
He started last night and looked poor again - two goals against Blackburn should not cloud his obvious deficiencies
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Last night made me want a striker in a bit more. I thought the difference Jay made when he came on was quite notable and injuries to him from here on could be our biggest threat to a collapse.

It’s tricky the striker situation, because there’s no point signing one in January that can’t transition to the Premier League.

Agree, but also could be a younger type who’s good enough now and can develop further into a PL player, if that makes sense.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 8:58 amIt’s tricky the striker situation, because there’s no point signing one in January that can’t transition to the Premier League.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Sunderland have been dealt a blow with Simms being recalled by Everton
They had just got their front 2 back of him & Stewart
They had just got their front 2 back of him & Stewart
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Saw this. Seems a desperate move by Everton, not sure he’s good enough for the PL, doesn’t even start at Sunderland.
That makes me think Saints will whip Tella back, though I did see them linked with a 20m move for a striker from Villarreal yesterday…
Re: January transfer window rumours.
By what date in January can a club recall players that have been loaned for a season with an option of recall in January. Is it right up to the transfer deadline on the 31st or January 3rd given 1st and 2nd are holidays?

They lost both him & Stewart around same time to injury and just got them both back fit.
Their fans think they play a lot better with both together in the team

Re: January transfer window rumours.
JRod completely changed the game (much more so than Zaroury given how Stoke were sticking tight and blocking balls to the wide men).
The slightly frustrating thing here is that Dervisoglu looked the type of player that could play the role JRod played last night (dropping in, linking play nicely) but for whatever reason that’s not worked out. We 100% need a new striker if Dervisoglu is off.
Not really sure who we can go for. Gyökeres won’t go or would be too expensive, Obafemi I’m not sure is the same kind of player for this system(?). Imagine Undav loan will be the best bet.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
He’s been injured. When fit he’s played well. 7 goals and 2 assists in 14 starts. To be fair not sure everton could do much worse up front.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Dervisoglu is clearly seen as behind Barnes so no point in keeping him (unless we have agreed season loan)
Obafemi can't get in Swansea starting side so no point again really
Hopefully an unknown gem from Belgium league is being lined up

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Yeah, but they seem to play with one striker most of the time and Stewart is ahead of him. He’s done well though, as you say, just not sure he’s the answer for Everton. But yeah, Everton are pretty thin there right now.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 9:47 amHe’s been injured. When fit he’s played well. 7 goals and 2 assists in 14 starts. Re: January transfer window rumours.
Yeah I liked the look of Dervisoglu for the reasons you say. Not sure he’s got the work rate VK desires though. Obafemi would a different type so I’d welcome that, doesn’t necessarily have to be the same as Jay. Only 22 as well, so he’s someone at an age VK can improve and potentially be a useful option in the PL. I think Swans could be more open to a sale, judging by Martin’s comments recently.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 9:37 amJRod completely changed the game (much more so than Zaroury given how Stoke were sticking tight and blocking balls to the wide men).

Re: January transfer window rumours.
A bit far fetched but VK should be asking his mate Pep for the young Argentinan lad who's just won the world cup. Alvarez I think it is, 10 minutes every other week for them won't help his development. 5 months with us playing the Pep way could be valuable for him and us

Not even on the bench last night from what I can tell. Not sure if that’s an injury or he’s checked out.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Still think Twine could provide the alternative to Jay in that front man role tasked with dropping deep and linking the play, allowing the wide men and midfielders to use the vacated space. It’s just we’d lose that physicality and height that Jay offers as well. Barnes can do the physical stuff but can’t link the play anywhere near as well.
Ideally, we’re looking for a younger version of Jay with all of his attributes, or we might decide to go down a different route and sign someone like Obafemi who hangs on the shoulder offering a huge thread in behind but that would require some more craft in the number 10 role than Brownhill can offer to make up for what Jay offers in midfield.
It’s a very interesting conundrum.

"Wolverhampton Wanderers target Viktor Gyokeres, 24, is going nowhere in the January transfer window, says the Sweden forward's Coventry City boss Mark Robins."

Personally can see Robins moving on soon. His stock is probs at its highest at the moment and he will know that all that is on the horizon for Coventry is problems, problems and more problems.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
The lad at swansea which suits our style / way Jay plays is the lad Piroe but I’m not sure we have the money to prize him away. I’d take Martins though not sure he’d be good enough if we get promoted.
If we just want a striker (different to Jay) I’d take a gamble on Stewart at Sunderland who’s stalling on a new contract.

Yes, if you’d told me we were trying to sign a striker from Swansea in the summer, I’d have imagined it’d be Piroe not Obafemi. Scores but not sure if he’s Prem quality.KlyBfc wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 12:57 pmThe lad at swansea which suits our style / way Jay plays is the lad Piroe but I’m not sure we have the money to prize him away. Dovbyk also looks a player to me, imagine he could be cheaper than either.
Big advantage we have now is any deal involving promotion clauses will look likely to players/clubs so we might be able to compete if a player for instance knows their wages will likely be doubling in June.

Have we been linked with Dovbyk at all?
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Seems like an ideal time to utilise the overseas market with an ambitious raid for a top striker. The incoming player would see us a near guarantee of PL football next season with the luxury of time to acclimatise both in personal and footballing terms. Could even structure it as a loan with an obligation to purchase on promotion.

Not recently, we were in summer.
He’s done well this season; 11/2 G/A in 15 games.
Agent was recently saying interest has intensified in him since summer & he would cost more than the €7-8m being quoted then. But that looks reasonable if you consider we allegedly went as high as £10m for Obafemi.

Zirkzee not pulling up any trees at Bologna but fancy Vinny could get a tune out of him. Swap deal with Wout anyone?

Burnley sign players on the last legs of their Contract. We loan others with longer contracts.
If Lowton gas gone then he deserves our best wishes. I think Westwood could be very valuable in the run in. He is a class player. Barnes still has some in the tank.
