I've read the article and the phrase "option to buy", is not mentioned, in fact the word option is not in the article. It does say "on an initial loan with view to a £3m deal in the summer".FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 9:07 amArticle in the Mail this morning suggesting the Obafemi deal is an option to buy, not obligation.
Expect the deal will get announced today, so hopefully it will be cleared up. I'd be infinitely more comfortable with this deal if it's an option - or even an obligation based on games played/goals scored.

A dog chasing a balloon as my mate used to say about Andre, but crikey he was bloody quick (and he could certainly stick his chances away!)

I predict Sean will be in for Charlie Taylor before the end of the window.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
There can also be loans with mandatory agreed permanent transfer upon expiry of said loan. It’s what Juventus did to finance deals for Chiesa, Rabiot, Bernadeschi, Morata, etc.
It’s not just option to buys.

Jesus we are 1 up late on the opposition are pushing for an equaliser and we are playing with 5 forwards! That's some Kevin Keegan style football right there

They both played the best football of their careers under Dyche. People claimed Dyche was holding McNeil back but under Lampard he’s been as bad, if not worse, than he was for most of last season.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 12:16 pmThat would depend on Taylor wanting to play under Dyche and his coaching staff again! I wouldn’t be getting financial tips from Juve, they just been done again and deducted 12 points for financial irregularities and are embroiled in YET ANOTHER controversy.

That's why I said 'suggests'. A "view" to a deal doesn't sound like an obligation to me. But lets not get caught up in semantics. It should become clearer once the deal is finalised.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Wouldn't be averse to that to be honest. VK doesn't see him as a left back and he's not in our best 2 current centre backs of THB and Beyer - granted THB is injured currently, but we've also got the 2 new CBs to throw into the mix. If we can get something bordering £5-6m for him I think that works for everyone as he'll be one of the higher earners you'd guess.

I agree. I also think the club will jump at the chance of getting his wages off the books.... We have bought replacements for CB, and there are better options at LB.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 12:46 pmWouldn't be averse to that to be honest. Would leave us a bit short of cover at a critical time in the season in my opinion. THB is injured, the 2 new Centre Backs are untried, and Taylor can also cover for MaatsenFeedTheArf wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 12:46 pmWouldn't be averse to that to be honest. Only problem I can see letting Taylor leave is that if THB,& Beyer go back we have then 2 new centre half’s ,and Taylor, that’s not feasible if we get suspensions ,or injuries.

We won’t be in any different position to the one we were in prior to this window.

We need Taylors height and experience of the Championship, especially when dealing with an aerial bombardment from the Sheff U types.

Prior to the window THB wasnt injured, we still had Long and NcNally on the books, and we hadnt signed the 2 new , as yet unproven Centre Backs.RicardoMontalban wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 12:56 pmWe won’t be in any different position to the one we were in prior to this window.

Taylor is a proven PL defender at LB. Getting him off the books whilst Maatsen is only on loan would be madness.

People seem to be forgetting that Dyche, for reasons known only to him, often preferred Erik Pieters to Charlie Taylor.

I always said I’d be interested to see who follows him into his next role. He’s a bright man and reflects well.
I think he will keep the Everton backroom staff.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Probably wrong thread for me to be commenting ,but he might not have a choice about the backroom staff if they are contracted they have already paid FL out maybe not fully but you'd expect some in part & hired SD (which is looking likely not confirmed yet) so FM might not want to get rid of them even if SD did. After what's happened recently I wouldn't be surprised if FM assumes more operational control instead of being on the periphery.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
It’s been reported that he’s passed his medical and set to be announced today. Like someone else said, we usually do them post 5pm, I imagine because it gets more traffic on twitter.halfmanhalfbiscuit wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 2:34 pmYeah me too.

Bielsa loves a huge backroom staff, I can see Dyche being an attraction because he doesn’t or isn’t taking many of any with him!Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 2:39 pmProbably wrong thread for me to be commenting ,but he might not have a choice about the backroom staff if they are contracted they have already paid FL out maybe not fully but you'd expect some in part & hired SD (which is looking likely not confirmed yet) so FM might not want to get rid of them even if SD did. Funny that Ferguson is out the door and they switch to Dyche…

Dyche is a good bloke & a good manager but let's not pretend he was first choice they have turned to him as the cheaper 2nd choice but I think they'll still do well because despite of that he's a good match for them.

Think I read that a number of backroom staff went with Frank, only remember because one was that incredibly successful ex manager Paul Clement. What a CV that guy must have...can't understand why anyone would want to offload himJakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 2:39 pmProbably wrong thread for me to be commenting ,but he might not have a choice about the backroom staff if they are contracted they have already paid FL out maybe not fully but you'd expect some in part & hired SD (which is looking likely not confirmed yet) so FM might not want to get rid of them even if SD did. Agree I'm moving away from this theme because I can see what's coming on this thread we can't be far off a moan, it's specifically for transfers & there's enough lampard & dyche threads going.

Certainly over the last season and a half. Can’t cut it as a winger, might need to play in midfield where many said he would end up.
