Good question. Would love to know McNeil & Tarky’s thoughts on this appointment as they face in to their second successive relegation battle.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 5:10 pmWould they want to go, assuming certain rumours are true regarding the unhappy dressing room last season?
I think Taylor might take his chances given he’s being played out of position and has seen two signings come in that position this window. Barnes definitely would!

"The Bosnian chap" (a lot of letters for us all to pay to get it on our shirts) is about it. We have a second team.

Agree.. I think Brownhill's enjoying the possession based football this season and won't relish a more defensive set up that Dyche may favour to survive.. a sizeable offer before tomorrow night may stir things up thoPaintYorkClaretnBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 5:08 pmI could see them coming in for him but I’m not sure why brownhill would go. There is a strong possibility that we will pass them in the summer as we go up and they come down.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Garner or Davies I’d imagine . Will he go with all the British and Irish players?
I can see him going for what he knows and maybe sticking DCL up top with Maupay annoying everyone to death . But he has better quality available to him than he did with us - I suspect the best goal his side will score at goodison has already happened though before his first game in charge of the toffees

I'm amazed we've signed 4 playera already this window but think that might be it. No more incomings and I think VK will want to keep the likes of Barnes and Taylor until the end of the season for their experience as we have a young squad now.

He’s going to have a hard enough time winning over the Everton fans as it is. Signing a Championship clubs second best left back / third best CB, isn’t going to be the way to do it!MancunianClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 4:22 pmDyche to come in for Taylor tomorrow.

I was only being flippant due to the rumours of a falling out between him and Dyche, but I think he'd do really well for us in this system. Not that the others aren't already doing really well, of course.

Hopefully there's a clause in the severance deal that says he can't come knocking for 2 years or summat like that.

Absolutely - he'd struggle to get on the bench.
Ok, maybe a slight exaggeration, but he's absolutely not what we need. Leave him where he is and let Sean complete his transformation to goalkeeper...

Right
We are at the stage where we think because we are top of the division below, anyone who played for us for in the premier league is automatically bobbins

Are we? Off the top of my head Collins, Tarkowski, lesser extent Wood, a fit Cornet, Defour and Ings would all improve us in various ways. Whereas McNeil wouldn't get in the current Burnley side.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 6:19 pmRight

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Don't think anyone's said McNeil is bobbins. He really wasn't. If he could kick with his right foot, learn to shoot, take a man on every now and then, cross accurately from deep and push into dangerous back post positions, he'd be almost as good as Zaroury.
And that's not a criticism of McNeil.. Its a statement of how good Zaroury is...nowt to do with divisions... Leighton James, Keith Newton and Martin Dobson played in the second tier for us... But we knew how good they were.

They are saying he wouldn't get in our side
I'm not sure how good this side will be in the prem, so I'm wary of saying that players that got into our side in the prem wouldn't get into it
Its not a biggy as its all hypothetical, but it does seem to be fairly disrespectful to Dwight McNeil

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Not sure about that to be honest
Granted he'd be part of a very exciting competition for wide players but I think he'd be a huge asset at this level
We almost certainly don't need him btw, but to suggest he wouldn't get into our side isn't fair or accurate
IMHO of course!

Tella, Zaroury, Benson, Brownhill, Gudmundsson.
He would have notched massive numbers in this shocking league. So many posters are getting lulled in by how dominant we have been.
It’s no coincidence our premier league dross suddenly looks decent.

I’ll take JBG off that list, the others I wouldn’t be dropping for him. He was slated for us and the Everton fans are the same with him. Re: January transfer window rumours.
McNeil as a number ten in this Kompany side just wouldn't work. For a start, we haven't been playing with a number ten so don't see why we'd change it all to shoehorn McNeil in. And no, Brownhill hasn't been a ten. He's more of an eight who is the most advanced of the midfield three and his work off the ball - especially in recent weeks - has been crucial. McNeil isn't quick enough or strong enough with the ball and without it to last in this Burnley side. Doesn't mean he's a bad player, he isn't a bad player. He just doesn't get in this Burnley side.

McNeil has 2 goals and 2 assists in 17 games. They are not that different in ability. Everton will no doubt make a profit. They fan base are just clowns that expect to be signing Mbappe.
Don’t forgot milltown McNeil is still playing and performing at a level our best palyers have either failed at or never played at.
Not to say they won’t be better but right now they are not.
