Re: January transfer window rumours.
So who the heck is Ayodeji Sotona then?
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Rovers clinging on to the hope that they signed O'Brien last night after their media team clocked off (possible but seems unlikely) and a striker as they loaned Markanday out at the death (highly unlikely). Is it possible that they have signed no-one (not Craig Noone) other than Sorba this window, which would be the gift that keeps on giving? They should know soon enough.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Chelsea gone mad. Spent a fortune. I know they sell a lot of players to avoid FFP punishment but surely their magic money men will have to perform even better now.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
They appear to have found a "loophole" in the way FFP is measured by offering 6, 7 and 8 year deals for players which offsets the money owed for the players over a longer period - it stinks really

I thought when RA left Chelsea would rein in their spending, however since the takeover they've spent £550m madness.

There is some fun to be had here for as long as the silence lasts from Blackburn's media team (and hopefully beyond).

A big risk if a player doesn't perform and they're stuck with him for up to 8 years, or face making a huge loss on him.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 9:31 amThey appear to have found a "loophole" in the way FFP is measured by offering 6, 7 and 8 year deals for players which offsets the money owed for the players over a longer period - it stinks really

I’ve posted many times if all transfer fees were settled at month end it would stall inflation in the transfer market overnight.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 9:31 amThey appear to have found a "loophole" in the way FFP is measured by offering 6, 7 and 8 year deals for players which offsets the money owed for the players over a longer period - it stinks really
It would also have meant SheffU would have paid for Berge and wouldn’t be under a transfer embargo.
Utter madness what they are allowed to get away with.

If Rovers have been screwed over by Florist that is the cream on the transfer windows cake.
As many others I’m overjoyed with our window.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
As pointed out by Chelsea's Shenanigans, 400,000 over 4 and a half years is peanuts. It isn't a gamble, even if he failed.
Not putting the mockers on it, I hope the lad does brilliant. It's refreshing again, to see the club open new doors, buying a lad to go out on loan at a higher level, would never have happened previously. A great time to be a Claret.

No, and seemingly neither do they. Meltdown on their board about the lack of comms.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
They have to put deal sheets in by 11pm don’t they? In which case surely it’d have been announced / leaked by now?
Re: January transfer window rumours.
He's a brilliant player, would love him at Burnley. Best player on the pitch in the play off final last season. So hope Rovers' pen ran out, their fax machine broke and they lost the charger for their laptop.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
There are standard UEFA decreed fees for academy players offered new contracts but wanting to move elsewhere - different value to the ones between English clubs but exercising the same principle. Of course it is possible that we have offered a bit more to maintain good relations with his previous club and given there was time still on his existing contract

The Blackburn thing is potentially funny but not as funny as Everton selling Gordon and not buying anyone with it despite being short up top.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
With it being in everyone's interest if the O'Brien deal gets done, you'd think it would do. Be a shame for him personally if he can't play at all now this season. Funny because it's Blackburn obviously, but as above, if he had any sort of form this season you'd think he'd have made Forest's 25 man squad.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
O’Brien and Thomas were the two stand out attacking players for Huddersfield on their run to the play off final. O’Brien done nowt at Forest and Thomas the same at Terriers, this time around.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
From Nixon re. O’Brien situation
‘In the frantic final minutes O’Brien, who did his interview with the club press, was interrupted just before the deadline to sign the form.
But then it is discovered that ONE signed form that was needed for the deal to proceed was not sent off after it was signed before 11pm.
Now the EFL are looking into the details and the explanations of the case - among several others that are also borderline decisions.’

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Always bothers me why clubs leave it to such a last minute. Absolutely crazy
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Nixon's post:
Blackburn’s on-off move for Lewis O’Brien move is in the balance … and here is the breakdown of the drama.
Deadline day starts with Rovers following up a previous inquiry for the Nottingham Forest midfielder.
Rovers are happy to pay his wages in full on loan for the rest of the season and wait on the player to decide.
West Brom coach Carlos Corberan wants his old Huddersfield player to join his squad but the club is yet to commit.
Sheffield United are desperate for O’Brien and the player is keen on them. However Blades are under a transfer embargo and need to sell Sander Berge.
The Norwegian is waiting on Newcastle, who do not seem keen come the crunch. Alternative choices are headed by Brighton but they pull the plug in Moises Caicedo leaving and do not come in.
By this point Blackburn have kicked on and say they will take O’Brien and agree to the Forest demand that they sign him for £10 million.
This part of the deal hinges on Rovers being promoted and they are happy to do that. Baggies do not want to sign up for that plan.
At 3pm on deadline day O’Brien gives the green light to Blackburn and heads to Manchester for a medical.
There are no snags and his agents are at Blackburn to sort out terms on the potential full time move at the end of it.
O’Brien’s advisors and Blackburn discuss what the wages and length of contract will be in the deal should they go up.
Those figures are disclosed and Blackburn are not out off, but no contract for that eventuality is signed.
Paperwork is done and sent over for the loan but the timing is delayed by those discussions over the future of the player AFTER the end of the season.
There are no problems again and Forest say they are happy for the deal to go ahead on the basis agreed between the clubs.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Sounds a decent deal on paper - no wages to pay and only need to buy the player if they go up - which they won’t.
On face value, it sounds pretty incompetent to miss something needed to complete the transfer - it’s not like they’ll never have done it before.
Rules should be rules, really. Don’t adhere to them and accept the consequences - I can see them getting away with it though.

Ha reading that last page that I just have you would imagine they have missed out on Mbappe & Messi not Lewis O'Brien
The anger seems at such a high level I reckon they might start booing from their living rooms Saturday afternoon
