First order of Business....sign up Beyer! He struggled on their second today but doesn't look out of place.

The last Pace interview (shown on the "Proud" thread) would suggest very little or no activity on incomings

There’s a report in Germany that there actually didn’t a buy clause for Beyer

Swansea manager comments on Obafemi.
Swans rejecting our bids look to have affected him.
I read previously that the player had been told the deal was further down the line than it actually was.
Wonder if we’ll revisit this one?

A lot of Gladbach's fans are keen to see him back too.

Obviously getting ahead of myself here, but we could get promoted and have to replace all our loaneesExeterclaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 2:18 pmBild are reporting no buy out clause. Hope they're wrong.

We'd be like Forest, but with a lot less money

Plus, just listen to the last sentence from Pace on this interview and expectations of ANY additions this Jan would seem highly unlikely

I expect it depends on who leaves this January 1) with the club's blessing, 2) reluctantly because loans are recalled or we have to accept an offer for a player we cannot refuse financially

Weird how our manager is happy to keep him as number one. As am I. So no, we can’t ‘all’ see that.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
We can all see areas for improvement but Alan Pace has a good point. Along with SheffU we look far better than the rest of the division. He’s keeping the powder dry for the Summer when different challenges should face us.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
The one thing in our favour is that the loanees will want to stay with us. We will probably be in the Premire League next season and they won't get the same chances back at their old clubs.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
On the other hand, watching out for how Robbo works an 'I hate Muric' post into every thread adds a bit of interest to the forum. Though I am disappointed to have not yet come across any of Robbo's posts proposing a better alternative who's available within our price range/salary budget. Actually, we could probably stretch the budget he'd need to work to next summer as I reckon that we could already show a profit on the £3 million we reputedly paid for Muric.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 7:58 amWeird how our manager is happy to keep him as number one. I think I've accepted that whatever league we are in next season, we will have at least 4 players on loan again. It's just if we go up they'll be a different calibre.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 2:28 pmObviously getting ahead of myself here, but we could get promoted and have to replace all our loanees

Wouldn't read too much into Pace's comments. Think it's fair to say there's no business we need to do in January- there's business we might want to do if the price is right or an opportunity arises to move someone out, buy it makes sense both financially and in terms of expectation management to stay coy on that.

Can only have 2 loans in the PL.claretspice wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 11:37 amI think I've accepted that whatever league we are in next season, we will have at least 4 players on loan again.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Think that you can have two loans FROM the PL, but you can have more from abroad (up to four, I think).
So hypothetically if we were to renew the current crop of loanees, Beyer would be fine - then two from four of THB, Tella, Maatsen and Dervisoglu.

It reads that only 2 loans registered at one time, regardless of where they are from.

It also says:
With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas.

I think if we are promoted, Pep may be willing to loan us THB for another season to finish his “education” in the Premier League

Been told by a club employee tonight that we currently have 6 transfer targets for Jan.
No names or clues given but the club are actively working on those 6 targets.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I think we are probably working on a Tella replacement. You’d have to assume Saints will take him back. As I said on another thread though, I bet the lad is gutted at the prospect of that. He probably won’t start, and if he does it will be in a **** team that is getting relegated under an out of his depth manager.
If we bypass them by going up then hopefully he can be ours (for good!) in the summer though.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
If Dervisoglu was to leave and return to Brentford this January he could only play for Brentford for the remainder of the season.
Having played already for Brentford this season and also us it would mean he CANNOT go out on loan to another team as rules state you cannot play for three different teams in a season.

If the club employee told the truth I'd imagine it would be 2 or 3 targets per position and if first choice doesn't work out then move quickly to the 2nd choice.

I have been told that Jude Bellingham has a desire to play under Vincent Kompany in order to further his career. He is even prepared to take a pay cut. Hence his appearance at the Turf last night. Watch this space.

Jan is the time for signings
Come summer, when hopefully we are promoted, other clubs valuation prices will double

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I would think most people (inc players) will now be seeing us as almost certainties for promotion so our stock is high
There's little doubt we will still be shopping in the bargain basement when we are promoted (a fact of life)
Hopefully we will be looking for keen, young players and the lure of promotion (and the increase in wages that will come with that) is a reasonable incentive now plus competition from other clubs may be a bit lower in Jan rather than summer
Of course I would expect us to be active in the summer but the likes of a striker now will enhance our squad strength

As promotion now looks highly likely (almost a certainty with an 11 pt gap) we should be looking to upgrade on some of our first eleven if possible to have a good chance of survival next season.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 8:21 amI would think most people (inc players) will now be seeing us as almost certainties for promotion so our stock is high

We certainly need a new centre half, at least one upgrade in midfield and definitely two new strikers as neither Jay-Rod or Barnes are going to carry much threat next season, with all due respect to both.
