Re: Interview with Vitinho
One thing that's really interesting with Kompany is the push for individual development. Training sessions that target individual improvement and not just team. It must be an extra motivation for each player.
Vitinho comes across a very clever guy. Sure it won't take long for him to learn English.

Thanks for that Vegas
Amazing how quickly he has picked up English, must be working really hard both on and off the pitch to settle in

Half expecting him to come out with Harry Enfield Julio Geordio comments but in a Lancashire twang, thanks for posting, enjoyed that.

Re: Interview with Vitinho
honestly, I thought it was poor.
- Too many leading questions
- Too many questions where there could only be one answer
- a lack of ability in the interviewer to think on her feet and change the question up because it had already been answered
In terms of insights it makes me wonder what the nurturing/buddy system is within the club for young layers. They're expensive assets and their mentality goes a long way to on-pitch performance, so if Vitinho is lonely what is available to him to counter that and provide him the support he requires? Mom and GF coming for Xmas is fine, but what about the rest of the daily grind?

Re: Interview with Vitinho
Did make my ears prick up when he said he was alone at the moment, Health & Wellbeing is constantly talked about these days, so I’d hope the Club do all they can to help a person settle.
The question that included ‘bringing a bit of Brazil to Burnley - eat in any Brazilian restaurants’
If he finds one locally, hope he lets us all know.
On the plus side, it’s good we get to share these interviews, I enjoy watching them

He didn’t say he was lonely he said he was alone, as in living alone. Alone and lonely are two completely different things.NRC wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 2:03 pmhonestly, I thought it was poor.

Maybe bring in a couple of other Brazilians to reduce his loneliness

I'm sure I've seen him speak English in previous interviews.

Re: Interview with Vitinho
I wonder whether they were using a translator when filming the interview which, if so, might make it more difficult to be reactive during the interview. But I've had similar thoughts previously about the style of interviewing in these videos. It's not too difficult to ask open-ended questions rather than closed, which makes me think they go into interviews with an idea of what they want to get out of it. They've asked a closed question about the quality of the training ground in pretty much every interview I've seen with new players since the summer, to which the only possible answer is 'yes'. You'd get a much richer and genuine answer by asking 'how have you found the training facilities'. Can only be a good thing to highlight it though.NRC wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 2:03 pmhonestly, I thought it was poor.

I think earlier in the interview he mentions that it was easier to settle in to the area because of the system the club now has in place to help overseas players settle in. He mentioned it was more difficult at his previous club. I might be wrong but I remember hearing something about the club wanting to improve on this after Max Cornet's arrival when everyone had to think on their feet.

Re: Interview with Vitinho
He could be alone in a lovely apartment in Manchester.
Early 20s earning £10k a week for playing football and living in a fantastic city.
Yes he could be lonely or missing family but let’s not assume he is miserable when it’s more likely he is living his best life right now.
What I have noticed with Vitinho is he seems a very bubbly and happy character and he seems close to the other players - especially Zaroury.

Re: Interview with Vitinho
Im pretty sure there is a Brazilian restaurant in Manchester and I think there’s a good chance that’s where he lives (that’s Manchester, not in the restaurant ). I think one of the other new young players also said he lived in Manchester.Eloise Laws wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 2:21 pmDid make my ears prick up when he said he was alone at the moment, Health & Wellbeing is constantly talked about these days, so I’d hope the Club do all they can to help a person settle.

Re: Interview with Vitinho
I do agree with others regarding the interviewer. I watch most interviews if not all put out by the club and have to say she is terrible. As has been said her questions are so leading and the answers are so obvious.
I have thought all season that there is a massive emphasis on letting the fans know how great and fantastic they are. Virtually every interview has a question such as "How good were the fans today" or "it must feel so special to play in front of a full crowd at Turf Moor". Probably some kind of marketing tactic which the club feel may add a few more bums to seats

And I'd say these sort of questions have run their course now.
Where's Andrew Neil when you need him?

Re: Interview with Vitinho
I don't understand the criticism for the interviewer, she's just doing exactly what the club wants, same as Phil Birds questions it's always going to be the same.
If you're expecting more open questions you need to look at journalism not directly from the club. It's the same everywhere.

Impressed that he turned out in short sleeves despite the freezing cold weather on Sunday
Re: Interview with Vitinho
Him and AZ should move in together. Share the rent and bills. Sounds sensible to me if they are good pals. No more lonely nights.
