Comments on Twitter aren’t kind to Dwight tonight.
"Sack the lot of them, then sack McNeil again. "
"Burnley had our pants down at £20 million for this idiot."
A couple of the milder ones.

it' ironic when you watch the highlights from tonight, 99.9% of Everton's better moments were created by Dwight

I think Saturday will give us a better idea as to where we would stand in comparison to the 'ordinary' PL teams and squads than the game at Old Trafford did. The top teams have to have a bit of an off day for the rest to beat them but Bournemouth rather less so.
I think (Hope) we rest a few.....the cup doesn't matter in the grand scheme.

Dwight left because of pay rise and thought he could knack it at a bigger club than ours and play every week in the premiership , sometimes it doesn't work out like that , just ask Michael Keane about is move to Everton it comes with pressure and if you can handle it.

It makes me very sad, that some of our fans take enjoyment from a former player taking so much abuse.
A player who came through the youth ranks (first one in 10 years), a player who got us a fee big enough to rebuild the club.
One thing not rating him but...

For the good of his career Dwight would have been better going to any of the other 90 clubs in the league.
Even going to League 1 would have been a better move than playing in front of that moronic toxic fan base. Agree with the comments that it is sad to see some posters seemingly enjoy hammering McNeil themselves, still it shouldn't surprise.

Brilliant for us but like a lot of our team last year there was clearly something amiss between him, Dyche and other coaching team.
He did what pretty much every player would do when Everton came in for him with a life changing offer.
They are a toxic club and set of fans but guess it was the only firm offer on the table.
Collins, Cornet and McNeil brought in fees of nearly £60m to the club and fair to say it’s not going well for any of them on the pitch but off it they have all made a lot of money !!
I don’t really understand how any burnley fan can be enjoying what is happening to Dwight after what he did for Burnley. And without the money we made on Dwight we would not have had the funds to spend on the team we have now.
One last thing the gulf between the Championship and Premier League is massive and growing every year. It’s a very big assumption to make that any of our team would fair better than Dwight who has played consistently in a league many of our team have only watched on the telly !!

Tarks and Cornet don’t get the same abuse as Dwight as they were good players for us.
The only thing DM did in his last 2 seasons with us was bring in £20m.

Nothing wrong with mindset. At 23 years old, he has achieved more than most people will ever do in 10 lifetimes. He made 134 Premier League appearances before joining Everton. He'd already earned his spurs.

Speaks volumes that Everton fans are more willing to put the blame for the fourth goal at Dwight’s door because of the (admittedly poor) free kick rather than Gueye, who literally played it in to the attacker’s path. He needs to get out of there - get a decent loan somewhere and go from there.

He’s 23 and played all his career in the premier league. He’s clearly got something.
Just needs regular games somewhere and get some momentum.

He needs to come back to us on loan once the new Everton manager comes in and decides he doesn’t fit in with his plans.

Hooked again last night in that awful defeat that Everton suffered. I feel for him. He has a great left foot and if he learns better to judge when to pass the ball, there is a very good footballer there.

Dwight's technical ability is better suited abroad, there is a footballer in there he just needs to play in a better technical team.

I think where many get/got frustrated with Dwight is his, at times, complete passiveness.
Look at this clip from last week and watch him jog forward in support of Maupay.
https://twitter.com/tompoole_98/status/ ... qwmOdWstgw
In the end the ball almost breaks to him, if he’d have been sprinting forward he would have got there first. Two other players who start behind him get there ahead of him.
Fans can probably forgive a bad pass / cross if they see someone giving their absolute all, but his body language just doesn’t ever give off that impression.

That clip from RV certainly doesn’t reflect well on him.
You can see he was thinking a goal or shot might come from the tackle between the keeper and Maupay.
However, that’s negative thinking as anything could happen. Then it did. He still didn’t react and speed up until the opportunity was over. Well spotted RV.

Did you see him today?
Defending your own 6 yard box surrounded by your teammates is way easier than having to move up and down the pitch with less help from your team mates, pretty simple to understand, not sure how many fail to see it.

Barnes - should never wear a Burnley shirt again - prior of course to when he destroyed Blackburn.

Man United are very rarely (if ever) wrong about a player and their development.
McNeil is a decent Championship/lower Premier League player, too one footed and too one paced to be anything else.

Says it all when some of their fans blame Dwight for their 4th goal when Gueye’s attempted pass back to Pickford was possibly one of the worst I have ever seen by a Premier League team. Every time I watch that goal it gets worse. It’s not even in the direction of Pickford - Messi could not play a more inviting pass to his fellow forward !!
Everton fans are deluded and toxic.
Horrible club and I feel sorry for Tarks and Dwight as I think they were both really good players for Burnley and they deserved better than Everton. I hope they get relegated and whilst I think Tarks would easily find another Premier league club it could be a lot more difficult for Dwight as his confidence is getting a right kick in these last 18 months and you can see he now playing with fear rather than focusing at what he is good at.

How many players in the Championship can cross a ball as well as him though? Two or three maybe. Hardly seen any teams this season who've put in the quality of crosses he's capable of.

I understand the thought but he’s not quick enough or skilful enough, benson and tella pace for days and benson can turn in and out, what zaroury likes in natural pace is his flair and ability with both feet. The goal goal zaroury scored on his ‘weaker’ left foot, McNeil would of taken a tough there on his stronger left foot

Once he signed for Everton, I always thought he would do well at his next club. Everton is all wrong for him. There’s a player there, and he’s young enough still to prove it.
Still, I did think he had become stale here and a move was right for both parties, just not Everton (for him).

I don’t think there’s a player in the championship with his quality on the ball.

One thing that would help him is our current tactic of using wide players both right and left
I feel sorry for Dwight, there is a good player in there, but Benson and Zaroury's ability to go inside or out, their pace, their ability to score goals, regular, there's no way Dwight would get in this team.

He was nowhere near their worst player last night.
Tarky had an absolute stinker, for starters.

To get away with being so one footed you have to be pretty much world class as top players suss you out.

Tarks has been poor all season for them. His pace has been consistently exposed.
